I'm putting a Franke 28" farm sink in a 30" base cabinet. I feel you don't lose any space with a farm sink. It's still a big sink (actually the freight truck just delivered mine this morning... it's beautiful!)

My Franke is 19.5" in length (27" wide) so that leaves 4.5" behind of counterspace to install faucet. (BTW, I wish this post was 3 weeks ago... i really like your kohler faucet, but I've already got mine!)

Try Galaxy Tool Supply's Ticor sinks. They have various sizes. You should be able to fit any sink up to approx 29-1/2" in a 30" sink base. You might be able to go slightly wider if you're willing to cut into your cabinet to fit the sink (I think they call it "scribing").

You could definitely fit the S405 or S505 and maybe the wider ones such as the SS6505 or SS6503.

I have a Franke Orca in my 30" base which I think is around 31". The cab installer made adjustments to the sink base. I wanted the biggest sink I could get.

We have a 30" ss undermount in our 30" sink base. It fits fine after notching out both of the inside portions on the cabinet. The picture below shows one of the sides after it was notched. The sink's inside/bowl dimensions are : 28 x 16 x 9.

Thank you all SO MUCH for helping me out - this was great advice and I appreciate seeing photos, too. I feel a little better in hopefully being able to order a little bigger sink. However, since I'm not doing a custom cab this time around I'm not sure at this point if Kraftmaid would be able to "notch" out the opening like Laurie's. Laurie: do you remember which sink you got and if you ordered online or purchased from a home store. In the meantime, I will also check out Mom's and Buehl's suggestions. Thanks again!

kulagal - The sink is made by Linea Aqua and is called Vienna. It's 16 gauge and has a satin bowl finish. I bought it online from HomeCenter.com for $238.

THANK YOU kulagal and laurie 2008 - you both just helped me solve my final kitchen problem. I wanted a 30" undermount in the smallest cabinet possible. Now I can get the fridge I want in the space I have left.

Pasture: Glad things are working out for you. I am actually ending up with a 30 inch Kohler cast iron white undermount in a 30 inch cab, so I am pleased also that this will work. Now, if I can figure out the fridge problem I'll be fine.

I crammed a the Ticor zero-radius rectangular single=bowl sink in my old 30" sink base. They had to shim the tops off of the sink base cabinet, but I felt like it would keep the sink more secure there (maybe that was unfounded). In any case, it looked great and I still had room under my cabinet for trash bags, dishwasher detergent, etc.

The ticor sinks are great-- I got mine from galaxy tool.. fantastic customer service too. They called before they shipped it to let me know there was a small scratch and they gave me $50 off-- turned out the scratch was on the part that was getting glued to the underside of the cabinet. Anyway, great product, reasonable price, and good customer service at galaxy... I think the link is posted above.

kulagal, I wanted to open your eyes to a few things you maybe haven't considered. I have had a white cast iron sink (Kohler) and now have a fireclay sink (Franke). I LOVE the fireclay. It is SO MUCH easier to keep clean. Basically, you just rinse it. Metal rarely makes marks, and if it does, a wipe with the soft side of the sponge cleans off the mark. The cast iron will require MUCH more scrubbing. Also, people seem to be very happy with their silgranit sinks, although I like the shiny look for a sink. The silgranit is matte. I would never again consider a cast iron sink. I was also warned repeated by people working in design stores that the new cast iron sinks are lead-free now and don't hold up nearly as well as the old ones. I especially wouldn't get an undermount cast iron sink. People love that orca. Many other companies make fireclay: Rohl, Shaw, KWC, Kohler, Franke, Whitehaus, etc. You may have already looked into this.

Also, I just saw some very cool new colors in Caesarstone in a design magazine. As of a couple of days ago, they weren't even on on Caesarstone's website. There were three new blacks/dark greys. So if you are after that look, you should at least check them out.

The Kohler Simplice faucet comes in two different sizes. With a small sink, the smaller one would probably look better. Can you check out the dimensions online and do a mock-up? Good luck!

Astridh: thanks for your comments. I will look into the Franke sinks and see what they are about. Do you really think a 30 inch sink is too small for any one of these faucets? I want a faucet high enough to do pans, etc. Would love anyone to comment on the size of the faucet in relation to the sink.

I just responded to your new post, but again, you need to measure from where your faucet will be mounted in the countertop to the center of the drain in the sink. That measurement is the crucial one. So you need to know the measurements of the sink front-to-back. You don't want the faucet reach to be more than that measurement. Also, the water coming out of the faucet doesn't usually go straight down.

For example, if you use your Bakersfield (was that it?) sink, that measurement is 10". The regular Simplice is 9" reach and the smaller one is 8". You would probably be okay either way. Even the smaller one is still pretty tall.

Very big/high faucets are sort of a trendy thing at the moment. Even if you like that look, you don't want to feel as though the faucet is in your way.
