To me it's not the finishes that make it look off it's the fact that that whole wall is all new built-in cabinets and the Kitchenet looks out of place and kind of forced.

I have to say though, I don't like this plan as much as some of your previous ones. Your pantry is blocking your best views. The Kitchenet is out of your main cooking area. The peninsula looks rather modern. Not that that's bad, it's just not the look that you previously said you wanted. However if you love the new plan, ignore my comments.:)

Oh, I forgot to tell you, I do like the mixed finishes if they are distint in shape or style. And I agree that it's hard to work with a KD that does more modern kitchens. The KD's I worked with wanted to stuff as many cabinets in there as possible and were baffled that I wanted to "waste" space with unfitted cabinets. I guess that's why I went without one, but with the help of GW of course.:)

I am always grateful for another opinion, Mom. You see things I don't and with a more objective eye. I guess it is not very clear that each color of cabinet is built as a stand-alone piece. It's hard to come up with something for the Napanee Kitchenet and the ss frig. At one point, they didn't have any 'new' cabinetry surrounding the two pieces. Maybe that looked better. The cabinet designer didn't like it at all. Maybe because there were less cabinets to be built?

The peninsula is built-ins: a sink and DW. Any ideas about that? The sink faucet is mounted on the raised wall behind the sink. The back side is cabinetry: 6'' deep behind the DW and to the right of the sink the cab in 36''w x 30''d and accessible from the table side.

The Nap Kitchenet should be fine where it is. Nearly all the baking is in the little oven to the left, and all the baking supplies are in the Kitchenet and the left cupboard.

The view, I wish there was a good viewscape. The back of the pantry overlooks the street. There is a small kitchen garden between the street and the house that is visible from the cooking wall windows. The best view is toward the side of the house, out the windows of the prep counter. It will change once the garage is built, but landscaping will be with the kitchen view in mind.

Personally, I think it would look better with the fridge separate. Especially if you can panel the fridge and enclose it with some cabinetry, it could look like a pantry cabinet.

I don't have any good ideas, but I'll think about it and maybe someone else will come up with something. Or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like this as well as your previous layouts.

My probably harsh first reaction: I'm afraid that wall looks like a mishmash of separate things squished together. Is the Napanee tucked under a built-in upper? I wouldn't do that. I would want it to stand out on its own.

It might be just the drawing and in person will look amazing and unique. It's hard to tell with unconventional ideas sometimes. All designers are not created equal and not all can be excited by the same vision you have. A designer told Malhgold that having wood, black, and white with stainless appliances in the same kitchen was 'too much going on,' and actually, it wasn't, and her plan was pretty classic and reserved. I doubt any designer would've OK'd my plans for 4 colors of cabinets and 3 counter materials. ;-)

I do think you have think in terms of sections and focal points. You don't want too many things demanding your attention in one view. --Let there be a rhythm as you look around your room...Let the eye relax and flow, then add some bling...But not bling, bling, bling. Like any artistic design, you want balance of lines, colors, intensity, etc. Does that make sense?

Really think about what you want to see when you walk through your kitchen door, and let your opinion and dream matter most.
