Luce Di Luna has a lot of honey veining
Comments (18)Happy to hear I could help you with your sink choice, Ott2. I contacted Blanco USA in NJ and they mailed me the chips. You can go on their website and request the silgranite via a form they have, but after a week when I had not received the samples I called them. They explained that they will not respond to your email unless you make a request for them to do so. The next day, my samples arrived. The Metallic Gray and Anthracite sparkle, like they have shimmer in them. The Truffle is much more matte and subdued, but I think it's elegant and a gorgeous shade with the Luce di Luna. I had also thought about the Jet Mist Antiqued yesterday. It was very pretty, resembled soapstone without the maintenance issues, and 25% less than the Luce. Check it out! If I did the Luce di Luna just on my islands, I might splurge. And do something more solid and less expensive on my perimeter. But, I thought the wood top on my eating island would be warmer than the quartzite, and I don't think I can do three different countertops (wood, Luce di Luna, and quartz or granite) in one kitchen. ;-) So many decisions, aargh....See MoreSoapstone with brown veins...???
Comments (6)Looks like Malibu Green to me. M. Teixeira is holding a large slab for us, which will go on our island, whenever the heck our house gets built. The stone is actually a serpentinite, with just enough talc to qualify as soapstone. It is much harder than soapstone, and pretty near indestructible. Also, it doesn't get oiled, just leave it as is. A short while ago, M. Teixeira had just a few small slabs left. They must have sold out, as I see now that the stone is no longer listed. The brown veins, btw, are iron deposits. Hope that helps....See MoreMini reveal: White Macauba quartzite counters
Comments (31)Ck, it is an Artisan sink. Interior is 14" wide x 8" deep. It is big enough to hold my large colander and my stock pot (although I can also fill pots on the counter with the pullout faucet). The size is good for me: big enough to do what I need w/o using up lots of counter space. I use it for rinsing produce, filling pots, dumping pasta water and washing hands. If I need to rinse out large poultry, I use the big sink. Here is a link that might be useful: sink...See MoreWhite ice granite has rust stains?
Comments (29)It's not really "million year old rust". The iron oxides in the granite don't start rusting until the slabs are cut and the surface is exposed to moisture and air. That's great if you don't mind how it looks. But mine is white with veins of pink, purple and grey. Mine was a remnant and was stored outside in the yard. After I bought it it sat outside for another year until it was installed. The rust really increased during that time. In my earlier post the owner of the granite yard told me to use wood bleach which is different than what you use on your clothes. After it was installed in the bathroom I made a paste with the wood bleach and put it on the spots with a damp cloth over it to keep it from drying out. It took a few times of applying , but it really took the orange rust spots out and it looks so much nicer....See Morecamphappy
