Does anyone have pictures of kitchens with knotty pine cabinets and dark granite countertops? I am searching for backsplash ideas but I really need to see visuals. Not sure if I want to continue the granite (possibly too dark) or tile.

Hi,
I know these are not all the wood species you're looking for but I hope they help anyway! I think knotty pine with dark counters is a beautiful combo. A lighter colored backsplash is the way to go, in my opinion. Do you plan on staining the cabs? Light? Dark?

It looks more like something is chewing on the surface along the vein. It must be something small. The black specks could be frass. Check your plants at different times of day and night to see if you can find the culprit. If the plants are doing alright except for this, it may be something you can ignore.

A collection of decorative bird houses on top? Or just decorative post caps? They even have solar lights for post caps. Sounds like yours might be round, but you could probably the ones for 6"x6" square posts (which are actually 5.5" x 5.5") and attach them to the top of the posts with construction adhesive (Liquid Nails). Or even metal lanterns with candles would be cool. Again, Liquid Nails is your friend (as long as you never want to remove them...LOL). Personally, I think the bird houses would be cute. They even have some adorable ceramic ones. I'm leaving one post high for a birdhouse and possibly swagging roses, too. First I want to convince myself that the roses won't cast too much shade. Lisa

Need help visualizing freestanding tub at end of 6 x 9 bathroom

I think it would look fine to tile part of the way up but I'd probably do it around the tub area. I'm hoping to put in a similar type tub in my bathroom & am planning to do paneled wainscoting (not beadboard) at chair rail height around mine. Good luck with your plan.

I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but you may find it helpful. Our kitchen before our remodel had a slide in range, and had smallish, maybe 4x4 or 5x5 tile squares for the counter top. The odd layout of the range led to a rim of tile around the back and one side of it that was about 3-4 inches. I hated this. It was JUST too small to put on a glass or small plate, but guess what....thats just what people would do . This drove me crazy. If it had been 8 inches or more, it would probably been fine. But as it was it was nuts. OTOH, I just did a google image search, and found 0 images of range and microwaves that had the range at the end of a run of counters. If you like the range where it is, and the problem is the micro-hood, then could you do a range and downdraft ventilation, and do an upper horizontal box cabinet to hold a standard microwave?
