I have silgranite in my kitchen. I can't think of a reason not to use it in the laundry. The manufacturer recommends that it not be exposed to bleach above a 50% solution but if bleach gets spilled and is quickly rinsed, I don't suppose that even that would be a problem.

I wish I knew how to post the pics. I was unsure about the undermount, until the Cambria installer came to make the template, he had a glack silgranit sink in his truck, after looking at it in the sunlight, I was hooked, this is a beautiful sink. But very worrisome and iffy on the undermount install. He told me he had never had one complaint on the many had had done. After two days of back and forth on my part, he said "just do it, you will love it". So, I did it. And I have not regretted it, it is beautiful. Wish I was not such a dummy when it comes to uploading the pics.

I think that's just because most people don't use the braces to install. :) (Why, I'm not sure---we decided to do it after my in-laws had a horrible experience getting their old undermount out, and I was surprised to see that our sink actually came with the hardware to do it that way---and yet people mostly don't!) It didn't seem especially difficult (we did it ourselves and just followed the Kohler instructions) so there may be other reasons people don't go that route. I think it's more common for undermount sinks to be epoxied in and rest on the sublayer of the counter, which makes it very difficult to get them out without damaging the counter. I should also add that we don't have all that much going on under our sink (no disposal, wall-mount faucet, etc.) so possibly people either want to maximize the space in the sink cabinet (not that the braces take much space) or just feel that it won't matter because getting the sink out with all the plumbing and such below would be difficult anyway? (We'd need to take out our P-trap to make room to lower our sink, but that's pretty simple to do---could be more complicated if you had a disposal and additional plumbing connected to it.) Kohler does sell the hardware we used separately as the Kohler undermount sink kit---it's designed for their sinks, but it has a pretty simple setup so I imagine it would work fine for many other sinks too.

Ah, yes, that would make a difference, ctycdm! Our counters will be the standard 36". Thanks, badgergal! I saved the photo of the garbage pull-out that you posted earlier so it's helpful to have the dimension to go with that photo. I saw the minimums listed on Rev-a-Shelf's site but I thought that was for the cab opening and all the photos showed the cans shorter than the door. But since you wrote that you only have 19" and had to trim the can, then I can safely assume that the 19 3/8" clearance required is for the can clearance. I'm considering the same thing in a double can, not a single, so you've helped me figure out that it will work. It will be a squeaker but it will work. Yay! It does, however, mean that I can't get the fancy one with the servo drive. Bummer. But it needs 20 5/8" clearance, which would mean cutting the can down by quite a bit. Oh, well. It would have been nifty to have that but it was also expensive so I'm glad of the $$ savings. btw, did I tell you that I was in Pewaukee in June visiting my aunt and cousin? Do you ever eat at Seester's on the lake? My cousin's daughter worked there over the summer. I always enjoy going back to visit but for once, I wised up and didn't go during the hot, humid days of summer. :)
