Distance between window and sink counter? Pictures, please!
Comments (16)I'm sure that you've made your decision already, but in case anyone else out there is still contemplating, we have the Ticor S405D and our window comes down to the counter with no bumpout. We don't have any issues with splashing- occasionally it happens if we're washing something very large, but it is certainly uncommon. Also with our granite countertops, we have no gaps that are in danger of water, should splashing occur. I suspect that having gaps is more of a function of poor workmanship than anything else. I researched the counterheight windows extensively before we put them in, and have seen many threads on them afterwards, and the post above is the only one I've ever seen that states that water or gaps are an issue....See MoreClaybabe, can you please post more pictures of your kitchen?
Comments (21)WOW! Thank you all for the kind comments! I'm feeling warm all over:) Carecooks, good luck and have fun with your remodel: It's great to be able to make a place your own. I'm kind of envious that you are just starting...WAIT what AM I saying?! The cabinets are from a local cabinet maker, natural cherry. The copper is NO care, but I like the patina. Definitely not a surface for people who don't want drips and splotches to show. Circuspeanut (funny!) the paint is Sherwin Williams, Fireweed and Blonde. I decided to try matte paint this time around because I didn't want the sheen to interfere with what I saw. DH thought it looked a little third world, but, I believe, is used to it now. Boysrus2, I promise more island photos tomorrow evening. There are drawers, a sink with a lot of stuff jammed into it, an oven, and a small wine rack. Oh, and a secret place. I'll try to get some representative photos tomorrow. Thanks for your patience. It's only a slightly better mess tonight (a week's accumulation), but I'll spiff it up and shoot it. oh yeah, and mustbnuts, it's verde fuoco on the island. Thanks again, you guys are making my day!...See MorePlease post pictures of kitchens w/ 2 islands!! Is it weird to
Comments (17)Thank you Vicnsb and Buehl for your comments. I have been mostly lurking, not having time to post, being owner builder for the last year. I plan in the near future.. after our move to post many lessons learned..for now I only have one album with way too many pix from beginning to current. If your interested..probably better to skip to the last few pages... Here is a link that might be useful: 2007/08 new home contstructon...See MorePlease post pictures of window treatments
Comments (6)Hi aliris, I've got nothing to show but I did want to tell you that when the guy was coming for pictures I panicked about not having window treatments yet. I thought it would be my excuse for getting it done. He told me not to worry. I ripped down my $5 Target temp shades in the eating area and just went with naked windows. I also looked on Houzz and in some magazines and noticed naked windows are making a come back! Who knew that my lack of window treatments would look so ...so...so in style? I think I am going to put a rod across the top of all the windows and have curtain panels that I can close, but not do any shades/matchstick romans at all. I really like this look, at least during the day. Not loving the blackness at night. Of course this is not helping you, but I thought I'd share what my plans are for down here. Upstairs, I still want to do something to block the light and add curtains too. I'll get there, but until the $5 Target shades are working like a champ--they do go up and down, not just the clips....See Moredoonie
