It is indeed fabulous. The saw horses really add that totally industrial look...so popular this year. What is the make of your sink...I just love it, I'm thinking of moving from a double to a single bowl. I have to agree, the art work over the microwave is just delightful. So glad to see you didn't use some ridiculous paper-towel holder and instead let it stand on its own...that is a classic!!!

bmore, my husband is a homebrewer so every bottle is valuable as long as it's not screw top.

As for the drill to coffee maker accessory, both the drill and the coffee maker are actually accessories for the husband unit.

Overall, the coffee GETS him going, the beer soothes the angry, aching bones after he's done.

My husband did point out to me this morning that I missed my opportunity to refer to the kitchen as "retro", like turn of the century retro. Isn't that one of the big catch phrases on GW?

Overall, I have NEVER been so happy to have running water, even if it is in a slop sink from the basement on a set of saw horses and a plywood base. I was, and still am, ecstatic about this development!

Oh "Franke-nsink" that is a really expensive line as I remember. I may just have to opt for a plastic tub. I do agree with bmorepanic, the counter space does have that "used bar" look to it, have you thought of moving your trashcan closer to the right to make it more functional. The pink post-it note on your upper cabinets really adds a nice accent color to the golden oak. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

vamp...I'm glad you liked our message station. I modeled it after some of the wonderful message stations I have seen here. I will certainly consider moving my trash can further to the right, although I have to admit I am really considering one of those new fangled under sink pull out bins everyone's talking about. I hear they're all the rage. I forgot to mention the central vacuum system we installed. It's barely visible on the right of the image. Manufactured by this great company called Shop Vac. :)

I bet you could wash the dog in that sink! Makes my farm sink look pretty wimpy. I've got to quit hanging out here. Every day there's something else I wish I would have seen before I finished my kitchen. I have looked at your sink in Menard's from time to time.....and wondered if I could get it beside my washer. I might have to steal your sawhorse/counter idea though. Just the sink seemed like I would need a portable island to go with it.

Well well well...never even saw the Shop Vac. Your GC did such a great job on that built-in. I've read about so many disasters on this board, but your KD and contractor must be joined at the hip, their work is outstanding.

And don't think I didn't notice the Food Processor aimed right at that Stock Pot...totally ingenious...placed there in your new Chemical Burn Oven. Must make stew in seconds flat!!! Certainly you will be including that recipe in your new cook book "Kitchen Countess" another top seller promoted by Oprah & Martha (including pictures of your glorious kitchen)!!!

I have loved all the jokes. It's been just what I expected from this group. Good humor. Looking at the photo now I love the beer in the glass from my hubby. The open hole in the wall where we had to move lines so the sink could scooch over several inches to the left. The drawn on windows are probably my favorite though. We have these on nearly every wall in the kitchen from testing and testing and testing to see where we finally wanted them to land. It's a good thing WE know where we decided to put them because all the drawings would baffle anyone else.

We had to level the kitchen floor by about an inch and a quarter from corner to corner. Our house is from the turn of the century and we love it but it does pose its own set of challenges. Nothing square or level any longer after all these years.

I gotta say if you want my sink you can have it as soon as I am done with it. It was in the basement to serve as my hubby's beer brewing slop sink but we pulled it upstairs for the temp kitchen after crafting that LOVELY sawhorse cabinet from scrap lumber so it would have someplace to live. It's all "available materials" which means it's a little short since the supply lines we had available would only reach so far. We just kept adjusting the horses down until we could reach the connections. It's still a world of improvement over washing dishes in the tub.

We are moving along gradually and I look forward to posting my REAL finished kitchen in the future.

I just thought everyone could enjoy a laugh. This kitchen has made me realize just how spoiled we are that we fuss over color and materials when so many humans cook much better, more fulfilling meals in much more humble surroundings. I am grateful for my lovely home and my privileged existence.

Loved it when you posted this pic on the thread where the lady was obsessing about her SS dw vs her old paneled DW! She couldn't sleep at night because she was soooooo upset about it. She had a gorgeous kitchen and hated it! You sure gave her some perspective in a nice way. I was going to post something really awful in response to her whining!!!!

This must be the greenest kitchen I've seen posted yet! You've reused so many items, including the beer bottles!
