Bath Remodel Countertop Decision
Comments (11)Hi and thank you so much for the pics and suggestions. I love your quartzite. I am going to call a local stone place to see if they have any. I would be thrilled with that top. Bullet proof is what I need. Basically we did our kitchen island over and purchased absolute black granite and the first night we had it, my son left a can of soda on it and it left a white ring. It wS the first of many white/ghost marks on the counter. Basically we don't use it. If the kids do sit there they use placemats. We have a stove in the center so I am always stressed about wiping up immediately and even though I do, more grayish white spots appear. I don't want to worry about another countertop. Thank you so much for your reply....See MoreKitchen Remodel: Painted Oak Cabinets, New Countertops & SS App

Comments (15)These are some great ideas ... to be clear, I can paint the cabinets no problem (have experience and appropriate equipment), but I have resisted over the past couple of years because we had higher priority things to get done in the house. We're getting past those now, so have time to go back and tweek. I like idea of crown on the uppers. Removing the cab over the sink is problematic ...it has an LED under it that is really important to the sink function ... will have to look and see if I can pull it, route the wiring into the ceiling and then back down into another dangly fixture that could match whatever ends up being over the island? Funny thing ... taking photos and then studying them actually helps ME! The fan is ugly ... but it is a wonderful thing ...maybe paint it white to match ceiling? (we did this to two fans in this house and two in another ...makes them sort of disappear). We replaced two in another house with dark brown ones to hook up with the dark woodwork ... it looks good, too. We'll look at replacing the glass on the two dangly lights ...it does need some contrast from the white ... since they don't do much, anyway, perhaps industrial stainless, dark gray, red or black?...See MoreKitchen and Bath Remodeling Referral in DALLAS
Comments (4)Sophie - - -My budget was $30-45K for the kitchen as a minimum (not including appliances and no need for different/new door fronts or cabinets). Cabinets are usually the most expensive part besides the appliances I have learned. I only need my island all one level, new counter tops, new sink, new backsplash and paint cabinets a white. I might change out the hardware but they're all new from RH as of two years ago. Is that unrealistic? It's a fairly small kitchen as well. klem1 - Obviously, I meant up-charging. dang auto correct ;) I can't figure out how to edit my post. It's only a 10 year old home but needs a bit of a refresh. I was thinking 35k would easily do it. And, then another $20-25k for some Wolf appliances..already have the sub zero fridge. Bid came in at $120K not including appliances....See Moreraee_gw zone 5b-6a Ohio
