I LOVE THAT LIGHT!!! I wanted it. Badly. But it was a bit too small scale for my island area. So, I'm trying to find a way to use the sconce in a hallway, or maybe some in the bathroom, or the three pendant one over the bathtub, or something. It's a beautiful light.

Now, on to your question... :) I think that would be fine. As people say now - it's ok to mix metals. You don't have to be matchy-matchy. I'll be doing some mixing of chrome and BN. Seems like chrome is making a big comeback. I'm using stainless, or BN, or chrome in the kitchen and dining room light is honey bronze, stainless in the foyer. My pendant lights have no metal. If you keep that light I'll be drooling big time over your kitchen. :)

Is your light fixture not currently offered? I go to eBay when I'm looking for something I can find in a store. In fact, that's where I got the over sink light fixture. And now that I have it, in brushed pewter, I've returned the chrome faucet!

I think I'd really try to match the island light fixtures metal to the existing one. Although my overhead lights are oak encased and my cabinets will be a different stain.

beeps - I know - it's such a gorgeous light. I just stopped when I saw it. And now, I can't get past it. We asked if it came in BN, and it doesn't. (And then got admonished by the lighting salesperson that BN "is so 2-years ago". haha

Scale wise, it should actually work well for our island - 24"x72 - I'm debating over two or three - I like the look of items in threes rather than in twos.

I saw the bathroom lights too while I was in the lighting store. You should use them if you possibly can. They were lovely.

I know that chrome is making a big comeback. And I like it for other people. But, having grown up with it, and it always being "the cheapest finish available", even the nice stuff still just doesn't quite do it for me. I wish that there was some way to change these lights to BN, but they are pretty enough that I can forgive them. ;-)

As for not needing to be matchy-matchy - I'm totally fine with it. My DH, not-so-much. He's a hard sell for the mixing.

MuleHouse - we got the light that is currently over the DR table about 2 years ago, and no, it's not offered any longer. And, really, I'd rather switch it out to get the light fixture that matches these pendants rather than get a light to match the DR light...but getting a new light for over the table takes us pretty well over budget for lighting. (We're having a wall taken out between the kitchen and DR so those rooms are becoming one which means that it will be obvious that the light fixtures are different, but that's going to be the case regardless as to what pendant we use, I think.)So, I don't know what we're going to do. I haven't found anything else that I like nearly as much as these, even at double or triple the price.

I hear ya on the "I just stopped with I saw it." I think I saw the 9 or 10 pendant light where they cascade down in length in a circular pattern. So pretty!

I'd get 3 also. I'm old school and generally prefer doing things in odd numbers. Especially with a light that size. Have seen pretty things in 2s though too!

Umm... you could scratch them with some 0000 steel wool and call them brushed chrome! ;o) (They are actually selling brushed chrome I saw for the first time today. May not be new but I do live under a rock sometimes.) People will be so taken with the Fizz they won't notice the chrome! =)

I also ran from chrome for the past many years, but am finding it refreshingly... shiny! =) I actually couldn't get my guest bath fixture - which I just HAD to have - in BN so got chrome. Which led to a chrome bath light in that bath. Actually, with the Carrara I'll have in the baths I think chrome may be a better choice than the BN.

And... thanks for the info on the bathroom ones. I haven't seen them in person and so wasn't sure. If they are gorgeous in person they are so going in the master bath! :) Yay! Another decision made! Guess it's chrome in the master too! :)

Good luck. Lots of lights on sale this weekend. Lamps Plus is having a sale. I searched for one light and found it the cheapest online at a place that felt sketchy to me. But, LampsUSA had it and they have a 120% low price guarantee. So, I bought it from them, received it, sent them the URL for the one at a lower price, and got my refund within hours. So I got it for 20% cheaper than the cheapest online retailer! Score! :) All this to say maybe you can find a deal on a dining room light this weekend.

OK... last random thought - could you spray paint the dining room light chrome as a temporary fix?

You have seen this one too, right? You can adjust the lengths to stagger them also if you want.

beeps, I saw online the circular one you mentioned. If our budget would allow, I'd put that over our table...but these "oh, it's just a few hundred dollars more" items are killing us...and we haven't even started yet. So, I'm averting my eyes from the loveliness of the other light! haha Besides, my DH would probably feel unkindly toward getting rid of a light that isn't even 2 years old.

You know, it's so funny you said about trying to change the surface. I considered it. But, it could go horribly wrong..and then I'd have ruined lights that I couldn't possibly return. I'll just tell people to look at the soothing bubbles in the lights. I'm hoping that since the focal point is the bubble cylinder, people won't notice the chrome so much.

And after talking with him again last night, I think that I NEARLY have my DH talked into it. I just don't love anything as much. And, truth is, I don't think he does either.

I think you'll love them in your bathroom. Great choice! I'd love to see a picture when you get those installed.

Thanks for the heads up on the price matching - I'm looking around for them online. Our local lighting place had the singles for $150 each. I've found them online for $100. While I like buying local, it means that I can get the three I want for the price of two locally.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder about that fixture with the three together - definitely thinking about doing that since it is a similar look and will take down our costs (one fixture installed instead of three).

Off to check out a few more things online to see what goodies I can dig up.

Angela - I asked when in the store originally. They won't. Same deal with my Silgranit sink - local shop won't even try to come close to the price.

I'm okay with paying slightly more for a local business, but not 1/3 more (which is how much it was for both the lights and the sink). If they are using the standard retail model, local shops are somewhere around doubling their acquisition price. They would still make a small profit, but since my overall order isn't huge, they probably don't feel that it would be worth the hassle (which I totally understand)...they may have minimum orders that they have to place, etc. I understand it...it's just disappointing that even when I try to, I can't always go local because the price difference is too much.
