I have a 33" Vigo ss apron sink. It's been installed for 8 months but we have only been in the house for 6 months. The outside of the sink looks as good as the day we got it. The inside does have scratches but that is to be expected. It is only dh and I, we don't have any children yet. I am pretty careful in the kitchen but Dh is not at all. I also found a thread in the metal working forum debating different ways of removing scratches from stainless steel. Of course everyone seemed to have a different opinion. peppermintleaf - thank you, that is good to know about the précis! Hubby and I have been back and forth about the large single bowl vs the 1 3/4. Because of a complicated layout, we have designed our kitchen with two ranges in two different work stations(we can't put them side by side without losing prep space or the prep sink). One is geared more for baking, and one is geared more for cooking. Hubby and I are often working in the kitchen at the same time, and I often am baking. The larger sink is near the cooking station, and beside the dishwasher. We realized that it is quite common for one of us to be doing the dishes while the other needs to drain boiling water or wash their hands while cooking, so we wanted the option of having an extra bowl for that purpose. The prep sink is far enough away that it would be a hassle to walk across the kitchen with a pot of boiling water. However, I usually hand wash most of my baking bowls and pans, so a large-ish single in the baking station would be very useful! So long story short, we have spent a long time considering it, but don't think a super single would be the right choice for the way we use the kitchen. Thanks for suggesting it though! Had I not been reading this forum, I don't think I would have even considered a single bowl!

I realize some people think ovals are "dated." Dated - schmated. Oval sinks are classic, not something that even can be "dated". On the other hand, I would care that the sink shape matches other things in the room. The (navy) Hall Bath sinks are too close to the side walls (another design glitch that should have been considered by the designer, but it's too late to change), The sinks are attractive ... but, yes, they are too close to the edge and will always be somewhat uncomfortable to use; that is a person using them will always have to stand a bit to the side of the sink instead of "straight on" because they're so close to the edge. I have this very problem in my girls' bathroom. They share a ridiculously long 13' vanity with two sinks on the very tippy-tippy ends. Just as I described above, they end up standing "to the side" of their sinks to avoid their arms hitting the wall. Is it the end of the world? Not at all, but it's poor planning. If you could wave a magic wand and have it done, I'd say re-do /go with a single sink and a stack of drawers on each side. However, I don't think that's a choice. The $500 option isn't enough to make up for this mistake. I'd ask for $1000 ... and live with it. Re-doing would mean more time, bringing in more countertop, and in the end, the sinks would be your preferred shape ... but would still be too close to the edge. Your master bath looks beautiful by the way. Yes, it does ... simple and tasteful. The hall bath does too. I am concerned that my retro-looking faucet Okay, I agree with you ... but I think it's a minor issue. The faucets aren't installed yet, right? Why not change the style of the hall bath faucet? In fact, this is a good reason to demand more than a paltry $500 ... you now have to return /choose again. It’s a slippery slope we go down once we allow these kinds of things to slide. You specified oval; they ignored you. Now the onus is on you? Unacceptable. I can't disagree with a single word here. Who's the boss in this situation? It oughta be YOU. What do you think of larger mirrors that are NOT centered over sinks but extend beyond? For the hall bath, I'd go with one big mirror. Why? As I described above, people using these sinks are going to end up standing slightly to the side of the sink to avoid touching the wall ... which means that if they have individual mirrors, they're going to stand looking at the mirror's border, not their own reflection.

**I attached some other pictures in my above comment. don't know if you saw all of them** Everything in the first picture upgrades would be a big NO! (they're blah, and busy, and dated granites. and cheap. Verde butterfly is nice, but it's very dark) no one even uses it anymore. white cabs and light floors? maybe. but not w/dark brown. the second pic of upgrade choices, a few are ok Delicatus is similar to Bianco, but it's a bit whiter. Fantasy Brown is a marble. It nice, but you'll have to be careful with it. Himalaya white, different. but it's really gray. a cooler gray tone Absolute White is named something else, I just can't remember It's whatever. Steel Gray is nice. I'll find some pics but if you did this w/dark cabs, you'd have to do lighter floors! or white cabs Snow Cream may be River White aka Colonial White. it's nice. hard to tell from that pic. it looks like this w/the red berries. similar to the other one, but this has more white. it would look nice w/the dark cabinets. See if they have a sample you can view.
