Fisher & Paykel / Question about units purchased - Good Deal?
Comments (3)Nope. Both washer models are the top-of-line AquaSmart with LCD and capacitive-touch panel. F&P may issue a new model number when making only cosmetic changes, or engineering changes that don't much affect the machine's functioning. You got an excellent deal. The topload dryer is a wonderful machine. Make sure your exhaust ducting is clean and unobstructed and takes the shortest, straightest path possible, and you'll be surprised how fast it can get a load dry after spinning at the washer's 1000 RPM....See MoreFisher & Paykel? LG? Kenmore???? Pls Help!
Comments (26)dadoes-well, it goes like this. My parents had a set of used maytags that they bought when they got married. Those are the only machines I knew and they were old when they got them in the early 70's. So when I moved out (they were still going strong and were about 25 years old by then) and got married my hubby and I bought our current 14 yo Maytags which also did not have that option. Besides brief college stints at laundromats I've only used the ones I grew up with and my current Maytag's. So I guess I didn't know what I was missing! That said - I am usually behind the curve on most things anyhow so no surprise there. I always joke that we are living in the 80's at my house (esp. with electronics). It was such a tough choice but between the speed queen and the fisher paykel but after himming and hawing at the store we went with FP top load washer and front load dryer. We do have a well and thought using less water would be helpful to lengthen the life of the septic system which is much more costly to replace than a washer and dryer. Store we bought them from says from their experience SQ should last 15-18 years and FP 10ish. We don't do a ton of HOT water washing - just sheets towels so I am hopeful it will be fine. We bought models: WA42T26GW1 (WASHER) AND DG70FA1-US (DRYER). Old dryer they are picking up and washer we are donating as it still works. I made sure the FP had the wrinkle/tumble setting. ;) The speed queen had a model that did that also but they didn't have that one in stock. They will deliver on Friday - I'll give it a whirl this weekend I'm sure! Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and laundry experiences. Happy Thanksgiving!...See MorePaykel & Fisher Appliances - Yea or Nay?
Comments (5)I have the double drawer dishwasher in 2 homes and love it. The older one had drawers that I had to place plates leaning slightly but in the new one they have corrected that with a larger top drawer. I like it as I am alone and using a single drawer is great for me and if I have company use 2. I would not buy a package, get sub zero towers. I have Lacanache stove, if I didn't have that stove (although Love it) I would go Blue Star or Wolf....See MoreDouble Oven Dilemma- Viking vs. Miele vs. Fisher & Paykel (or others?)
Comments (15)@Whitney Marlow - I understand your concern. Yale appliance has a blog you might find helpful. They sell AND service and have information you might find useful. I remember reading and watching about the new Thermador - if I recall correctly they stated that they updated the exterior but made little to no changes to the actual oven. Thermador is owned by Bosch. Bosch double ovens do NOT have knob controls. Monogram has good reviews, but Haier has now taken over. I am trying to support products made in the USA, not China. My experience with F & P is limited. It's not a brand that gets a lot of press where I live. I see mostly Wolf, Thermador and Blue Star around me....See Moregeomeg
