Cabinets? Medallion, Shrock or Kraftmaid?
Comments (9)I don't know anything about Shrock or Kraftmaid, but many of my friends and neighbors (I live in NJ) have remodeled their kitchens in the last few years using Medallion cabinets, and they're all delighted with them. The local distributor/installer they've all used (it's that kind of neighborhood - if someone does really good work for one or two people, they get more work than they can handle for years to come) uses Medallion almost exclusively. In fact, when the job has been completed, the owner (he's very involved throughtout) typically comes by for a walk through and even suggests which doors he thinks need replacing if they're "off" in any way. Remarkable customer service, and I have to believe that Medallion is being very accommodating, not just the dealer. Everyone is very happy with their kitchens, and they're all holding up really well. Full disclosure: I am not going to be using this dealer or Medallion, because I want a very contemporary, Italian-look kitchen, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the look I want with their cabinets. I'm 99% sure I'll be using CraftMaid based in Reading PA(NOT the same as Kraftmaid) for my kitchen. I actually drove 2 hours to their factory (I'm becoming really crazy in my quest to get this kitchen the way I want it) and I was very happy with what I saw....See MoreKompy? Comments (17)Hi Charlikin, Was a great appt. I've been working with this great family from another state away. I carry a line that they wanted and it's worked out well. Cashew is close to natural, but not so 'bare' looking, if that makes sense. It's a nice color. Cashew is definitely more yellowy/pink than sesame. Wheat is closer to natural. And I agree with neverdunn....the sesame is gray and dull. I'm not a huge fan of it, standard or burnished. Burnished or Frosted (glazed) finishes in Medallion are 18% for Designer Series and 14% for Designer Gold series. Finally, here are the pictures that I promised to post. They are clickable thumbnails. KM Toffee - Med. Hazelnut Small samples: MED Harvest Bronze CHERRY (left) - MED Hazelnut Burnished KM Toffee - Med Chestnut (big doors) KM Toffee - Med Chestnut KM Toffee - MED Chestnut - Hazelnut -Harvest Bronze Cherry (small sample) KM Toffee - MED Chestnut - Hazelnut - MED Chestnut Frost - Med Harvest Bronze Cherry (small sample) The last two are against my Medallion Alder display in Hazelnut Burnished. You can see what a difference the hazelnut is on the maple compared to the alder. Maple is very yellow, alder not so much. It was hard to get photos without a lot of glare and not using a flash. The best ones were the ones that I layed out on the floor and took from above. Hope this helps!!! KOMP...See MoreKraftmaid VS Medallion Silverline
Comments (3)We just purchased KM after having considered the Medallion. IMO, they are very similar, including in price. Our final decision was based on four points: 1. KM had the exact rustic door style and stain we wanted (although Medallion came close); 2. our KD and installer have had fewer problems with KM (although their recollections of Medallion "problems" certainly wouldn't scare me away); 3. the promotions from KM (that expire 7/30!) brought us to a lower final price; 4. in our neck of the woods, folks think more highly of KM (whether they should or not). I say, if you find what you love in either, you'll be fine....See MoreMedallion/Schuler Cabinets vs. Dura Supreme vs. Kraftmaid
Comments (26)Yelena, Although, my kitchen reno is still a work in progress and I can't speak on purchasing an ENTIRE Schular Cappuccino Cherry Kitchen Cabinetry, I'll be happy to share my experience. So far, I can say that I have compared prices, as well as, quality between Yorktowne, Medallion and Merillat Masterpiece. Hands down, Lowe's Schuler Cabinetry was/is the best savings for the same good quality. If I had the budget, need or desire to replace all my cabinetry as part of my Kitchen Renovation project; I would 100% recommend Lowe's Schuler Cabinetry, Cappuccino Cherry! Not to mislead or steer the topic; But my experience with Schuler's Cherry Cappuccino was/is somewhat limited to a fortunate mistake as a result of replacing my old appliances: Which was always part of my original kitchen renovation plans and budget; Including, my backsplash and countertops. In lieu of, keeping my 18 year old Yorktowne, Solid Maple Cabinetry because. my cabinetry was/is in great condition. Asides for the "Spice" stain color, I still love Yorktowne's "Hallmark/Ambrosia" door style and the amount of time spoke for the quality and my experience, By happenstance, my new appliances (Microwave & Oven) didn't fit into my old cabinet space. So, I was force to address the "Spice" stain now that I had to order a new "face front" cabinet. Which ultimately meant, I would be paying to populate the stain color that I never liked or compromise my design and new appliances. Which I felt lead me towards having the best of both worlds; Two-Tone Cabinetry (Paint and Cappuccino Stain) aka: a "fortunate mistake" because Schuler's "SAVANNAH" matches Yorktowne's "Hallmark/Ambrosia" Door Style perfectly and the Cappuccino Stain coordinates well with my new Cafe Matte White and Brush Bronze Kitchen Appliances! Now, if I can only get a response from Rob regard the flooring he used with his Cappuccino Stain Cabinets, Hope this was helpful,...See Moredilly_ny
