Talk me down...DH dented fridge

Ok my hubby was moving the very heavy new gas range into its designated spot today since the granite people are coming this afternoon. He said it is ridiculously heavy. Well apparently he bumped into the brand new SS fridge and left a dent (about 1 inch)!! I am so upset. I haven't seen it...I am still at work.

I'm telling you EVERYTIME we do a project we end up doing more projects because of the things that get broken during the original project!!! UGH! We have to save money or I would just pay the extra money for others to do everything so we would be covered in instances like this.

So that leads me to my question of who can repair dents in SS? And dare I ask how much are we talking about here??

I feel your pain!

I finally got the fridge of my dreams (French-door, bottom freezer 2 ice makers)...hubby should've asked for help but he didn't. He had to take it apart in order to get it into the house...so, I thought it was 'safe'. I go to town 'cause I just couldn't bear watching.

I come home...sure enough, there's a dent on the side. My heart drops. Ok, take a deep breath...focus...put this into perspective!

My experience was tempered by the recent death of our 27-year old son in an avalanche while snowmobiling. Ever since then, I'm feeling my mortality so much more. "Ok, I can look at this as a 'mark' left by my husband in case anything happens to him."

I realize this is an extreme answer to your 'talking down'...and I don't mean to trivialize your situation. Just, maybe, a different experience. I sure hope you can find a solution...especially if it's on the front. My very long dent (caused by it crashing!) is on the side - I could hide it easier than if it had been on the front.

Lol...personally, I'd chalk that up as a funny story, but if the dent is in a really obvious place and you can't get over it, look up "paintless dent repair" in your area (google it) and they should be able to hook you up for 15 bucks or so, depending on your region.

PDR, as it is also known, is an autobody repair technique that should translate well to a stainless steel panel on your fridge.

We have had an absolute NIGHTMARE experience with a F&P flat front, counter depth, stainless fridge. If it wasn’t so infuriating, it would be funny, especially if it wasn’t happening to you. it started making very strange noises a week before the 2 year warrantee expired. Sounded just like a car revving it’s engine. This was over 2 years ago now and it still isn’t fixed. This company does not stand behind their product, period. Their technician has made us feel like we were insane for thinking this wasn’t a normal sound. Lying to our faces about the most basic of issues and previous visits. Cancelled appointments, lost paperwork, wrong parts ordered, etc etc etc. it was been a complete farce of after sale customer service and support. We have every e-mail and paper document, countless video and audio files of this fridge making these crazy sounds and yet...... here we are.....just today..... the 3rd cancelled appointment this month alone by the local F&P service rep...... yep, you guessed it...... after waiting at home since 7am this morning for the scheduled service. Do NOT buy this brand. It’s simply not worth the incredible hassel you will face if anything breaks.... with, or without a warrantee.

Price negotiations are variable. In this case I would deal only with the manager, in person, using cash and figure the price you want including tax to get the deal done. Go to him, ask him to work with you to get a deal done, point out the damage, finalize the warranty, make the offer and be ready to walk. In fact, taking a lap around the area to let him think about losing your sale can be the decider. It kind of restarts the process and almost requires him to modify his position.

I had a similar experience about 5 months ago when I had a new Samsung French Door delivered from Lowe's. I had ordered a model without water & ice in the door, and the day before delivery I got a call saying that the model had been backordered. They offered me a free upgrade to the model with water & ice in the door. I didn't really want that, but said ok since they couldn't give me an ETA on when the model would be delivered. I didn't notice the dent until after the installers left. I called my local store where I purchased the fridge, talked to the guy that I had delt with the day before and later that day the delivery guys came back with a new door, replaced it in about 5 minutes, and I was a happy camper. I know my experience may not be typical of dealing with a big box store, but I got a great deal on the fridge ($1250 for a 25 cf model) and was very happy with the way they handled both problems.

We don't have ours covered and it hasn't been a problem. We have had ours about 4 years. I built a table to go along with the kitchen. I designed and built the structures and my husband helped me with the hardie board and securing, squaring the structures to the deck. We did all of it besides the granite and 90% of the stone work (only because we needed to meet a deadline). Sink is just a hose hookup for quickly rinsing hands and not for food prep. Not sure how to get the pictures smaller.
