Share your awesome accent lighting
Comments (23)Annie, Thank you thank you for your further insights and answers (and for the photos)! You obviously spent a great deal of time getting the lighting right in your home. I am glad to know about the different trim kits and that you used low voltage spots instead of standard voltage. I gather from your pictures you used pot lights and not puck lights to accent your art. Is this assumption correct? We haven't thought much about exterior lighting except coach lights and pots in the soffits. We also have a conduit placed in backyard. We will need to work out some low voltage up lights perhaps around our back yard. I think your idea of borrowing the lights from the store to test out is brilliant. Hopefully, we will be able to do that too. How did you use light in the bedroom? I am thinking of a centre fixture and then some sort of pots around the perimeter (assuming standard voltage pots). We can also have reading lights by the bed. Would love to hear how you solved lighting here. Carol...See MoreInSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP - which air switch?
Comments (12)Sorry to take so long to answer, Andrea. We were in a "camp" (cottage) in the Adirondacks for a week. (Where, BTW, I cooked on an older Tappan gas range that made me appreciate my induction cooktop more than ever, and where there was no disposal or dishwasher at all. And the faucet's side spray was missing. That's as rustic as I get.) In any case, there is no silicone showing around my switch. I had a 1" hole drilled (to accommodate that adaptor that didn't work in granite), but the switch is a little bigger than 1", so my GC managed to glue it on. 3/4" hole would be easier, I think. I wonder if Waste King has figured out how to put these in granite yet. I think the actual instructions were for a small hole - maybe it was 3/8 or 5/8". The way the instructions read in 2011, it seemed that they were assuming a solid surface counter where you could get a small hole, and if you had an existing 1" hole in that solid surface, then they had the adaptor. But they didn't seem to think about how to put them in 3 cm granite, where it's difficult to drill a small hole. Even 3/4" may be tough. Ask your fabricator how small a hole he can drill....See MoreCalling all In-Sink-Erator GD owners

Comments (18)I have a fiber optic switch, which is just like an air switch, only it has a sealed gasket so water can't go down it. Like air switches, fiber optic switches are available in several finishes. Waste King made mine, but it works with any brand of disposer. You should be able to see one in a store that sells Waste King GD's. You can buy them online, too, and much cheaper than in the store. Either an air switch or a fiber optic switch is much easier to use than a switch in the wall or under the counter....See Moresuzanne_sl
