What's Your Favorite Garden Accent/Art?
Comments (46)This is a really fun thread. I like to see what everyone has in their garden and how thoughtful about art and creative you all are. I often think I'm going to "make" some garden art but then never get around to it. I don't decorate the garden with a whole lot of art. I have a few decorative stakes and then a few glazed birdbaths and some copper sprinklers that I use more for decoration than watering. My mom has a very cute piece of garden art. The story behind it is that we were at Hever Castle in England and they were selling all kinds of cement statues. We fell in love with so many of them. My mom couldn't part with this guy. Hever Castle was down a hill so we had to hike back up the hill, carry him on the rest of our tour and then carry him home on the plane. He weighed between 30-35 pounds so it was like carrying a little person around. He was well worth it though!...See MoreI'll share my recipes, if you'll share yours - January 5, 2010
Comments (3)I just made something very like this... used LeSeur early little peas, shoepeg corn, french cut green beans, pimiento, onion and celery. For the marinade, 2/3 cup vinegar, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup evoo...... Can't stop eating it.! Friend says one can use Splenda instead of sugar. Let it marinate overnight, then drain off the marinade about 30 minutes before serving....See MoreI'll share my recipe, if you'll share yours, March 2 , 2011
Comments (3)That sounds awesome, Luckygardnr! This one does, too. And no eggs in the cookie dough. COOKIE DOUGH TRUFFLES (Dainty Chef) 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 2-1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips 1-1/2 lb. semisweet (or bittersweet) chocolate, coarsely chopped Mini chocolate chips (for garnish) Combine the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and cream on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat in the flour, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla until incorporated and smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the mixture has firmed up enough to form balls. Shape the chilled cookie dough mixture into 1-1/2 inch balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Cover loosely, transfer the pan to the freezer and chill for 1-2 hours. When ready to dip the truffles, melt the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Dip each chilled truffle, one at a time, coating in chocolate and shaking gently to remove the excess. I use a toothpick or salad fork for this. (If at any point during dipping, the cookie dough balls become too soft, return to the freezer to chill for 30 minutes.) Transfer to a wax-paper lined surface. If using mini chocolate chips for garnish, sprinkle on top quickly after dipping each truffle before the chocolate sets. Once all the truffles have been dipped, store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve....See MoreLow Natural Light - Share Your Paint Pics!
Comments (7)So many good choices, you guys are great! I love the pictures  very helpful! I purchased the BM color software and it doesnÂt even come close to providing real world color representation  so the pics are much appreciated! I only wish I could easily translate these wall colors into my room. I feel so lost with color, which is surprising and disappointing to me. I thought that I was a "stylish" person and could easily pick paint color to coordinate my style and projected room ambiance. NOT!!! This is so much harder than I thought it would be. I think whatÂs really throwing me is the lack of natural light. That REALLY makes a huge difference in the samples when I get them home. Amyrsq  Thank you for your suggestion. I can see where green would make a lot of sense since itÂs the opposite of purple. However, the taupe I have in the room now (donÂt remember the name) looks like it has a green hue to it and itÂs not working for me. I will check out the colors you suggested and what a great idea about paint matches for the bedding! IÂve been taking my pillowcases with me. sarschlos_remodeler  I LOVE YOUR COLOR! IÂm going to get a paint chip of this for SURE!! OMG, LOVE IT! johnmari  WOW, another hot contender! Your room looks awesome and we have twin flooring! My only concerns is that it would generate very dark in my low-light bedroom. But IÂm going to pick-up a swatch of this color as well! Please keep the suggestions coming!...See Moreontariomom
