Comments (2)No such thing as travertine marble. I think what you may be talking about is Roman travertine, which has a completely different look from most travertine. But it's still all travertine which is actually a limestone, instead of a marble. Give it another 5-10,000 years and it WILL be a marble, but not yet....See MoreHow do you repair a chip in granite?
Comments (8)I have granite with a lot of mica. Examining the stone closely, I can see where the original fabricators filled areas with epoxy that blended in well with my 'Fleur de lis' granite. After three years of use, I filled about a dozen spots on my 8' x 4' island last week. I had crazy glue on hand and it worked quite well. Start with a super clean stone. Dry well. I wiped with alcohol and let dry to make sure there were no wells of water in any divots to turn white when I put in the crazy glue. (Water and crazy glue does not mix and will turn 'white' if you put it in a wet area.) I learned that it's best to have a new razor for each area that you work on because you will need to scrape the surface of the granite where the glue has dried. I waited a few minutes after filling a spot and leveled out the top with a razor blade, then let the little divots, maybe pea size, just harden well. Once dry thoroughly, scrape in one direction at about a 45 degree angle in short strokes to 'shave' off any extra glue that you may have over filled or spread on the granite. It worked great. I did not ruin my granite or scratch my stone. The extra glue on the granite not 'needed' to fill any divot will appear like a 'smear' or crusty area, so it's easy to identify where to scrape. It took me about 10 minutes on each area to scrape it level and smooth....See MoreHow do you know you're getting a quality faucet?
Comments (12)Here's a link to a great, easy to read article that that tells you what to look for and why. It really helped me make a decision when it came time to choose a faucet. Here's an excerpt regarding Lowe's Moen vs. Faucet Depot's Moen: "Most major faucet manufacturers will make special models just for the large retailers. . . in some cases the faucet can be sold at a lower price because the materials used are lower quality - plastic spouts rather than brass, for example. . . . If the model number or name is exactly the same, most likely you have a regular-line faucet. If it is not the same (usually by the addition of a suffix such as M1045-HD rather than M1045), then it is probably a store model. . . . If still in doubt, call the manufacturer's customer service and ask. " HTH! Here is a link that might be useful: http://starcraftcustombuilders.com/sources.faucets.htm...See Moretransitional
