Has anyone made a dishwasher steam deflector?
Comments (1)All you need to do is to pull the DW out and paint the particle board with two coats of primer. Done. If you want to go the extra mile, use a coat of color matching paint on top of the primer so that you never see any of the particle board at all. I'd do this around the sink edge as well. That's a far worse spot for water infiltration than over the DW. Or you can staple 6 mil poly sheeting to the underside of the counter and dab a bit of caulk over the staples. Some have even made a "cube" of the poly, covering the adjacent wood sides of the cabinets as well. Or you can buy a condensing dry type of DW that doesn't vent like almost every single stainless interior one on the market. It will be quieter and the tub won't turn orange from tomato sauce as well....See MorePaint the fridge, has anyone done it?
Comments (9)Krylon and Rustoleum both make appliance paint. IME the spray gives a more even finish than the brush/roll kind but it's messy to an extreme and STINKS. Not a large color selection either. If it's not terribly hard for you to move the fridge (like you have access to muscle and a pickup truck), call a bunch of auto body shops in your area. It's not too expensive to have an appliance painted, especially if they're doing a vehicle or something in the same color, and doubly so if you do a lot of the prep work like removing the door handles, gaskets, hinges, masking the plastic parts, etc. Triply so if they're hurting for business. :-) They have a HUGE range of colors to choose from, pretty much anything you can dream up. I knew someone who had all her perfectly-functional, good-quality "harvest gold" kitchen appliances repainted with automotive paint at a body shop. She took the opportunity to replace the door handles on the fridge and oven and the stove knobs, and everything looked new. It cost her a few hundred bucks to have stove, fridge, and rollaround dishwasher repainted, and it would have cost over a grand to replace it all with absolute-bottom-of-the-line appliances. She did use a little chrome paint, which she bought in a hobby store (model airplanes and cars and such), on some small trim bits rather than having them rechromed, but you had to know it was there and look for it to notice....See MoreHas anyone had their quartz fabricator do a miter cut on 2cm?
Comments (3)firsthouse - can you link me to your pic? I've searched using all different keywords and can't find it. davidrol - do you also have a pic? I'd love to see how yours turned out. Comments (56)Unfortunately I didn't take any photos when I saw the slab here in SoCal. But, I don't think I would recommend the New Carrara. The slabs have been coming in quite gray. AZ tile will admit it. We were deciding between New Carrara and Calacatta Zeus. The 12" samples we got made us think for sure New Carrara veining but when we saw them in person, Calacatta Zeus was actually really lovely. Bigger movements of more subtle light grey veining. Carrara was a lot more activity with all over swirls. And again, very grey. We did slate colored lower cabinets and so happy we got more contrast with the white countertops. It also matches very well with our white upper cabinets. That all being said.. I don't see Calacatta Zeus on Arizona Tile's website any longer. I know there have been issues with the tariffs being put into place, but if you can grab some slabs, do it!...See Moreadvertguy2
