Biggest sink for a 27 inch base cab

Anyone have any suggestions? Love the pricing of Ticor, and looking at the S405 or S505. If I could find something larger than the two that would be great.

I always thought the S505 was bigger, but just checked the dimensions on the S405(it is a D shape) and it is bigger.

Anyone have it?

I have the Ticor S505 in a 26 3/4" sink base. It very easily fits and I have plenty of room for my faucet which is a Delta Allora. I would have liked a larger sink, but am very happy with the S505. I decided against the D bowl because I wanted to put my faucet in the center of the sink, not besides it. I'm sure someone will chime in with a bigger sink that can fit. Good luck!

I got the big D shaped one for my food prep sink and didn't realize it was so deep from front to back until I unpacked it when the granite template guy was there. The granite installers put the faucet over to the side and I like it a lot. It is in a 24" base. That is a big sink!!

Your hood aperture should overlap pan bases by enough to capture the rising and expanding effluent that they can generate with hot cooking. So start with where the pans will be with the range in place, and expand the area by at least (!) three inches in all directions to see the area the aperture has to encompass. The hood should not have a gap at the back unless you use a hood a deep as a Pro Island hood (see Wolf hood parameters) and can clean back there. If you insist on a hood that can't make it to the wall when paragraph 1 is satisfied, then the gap will have to be blocked, and for best results this block should be tilted to reflect the effluent up into the aperture. For best results your blower at full power should cause an areal flow rate of 90 cfm per square foot of hood aperture. Assume that the rated flow rate will not be achieved and bump this number higher to 130 cfm/sq.ft., say, and multiply by the area to get the desired flow rate rating of the blower alone. I can't read Whirlpool's mind on cabinet depth. Your code enforcement officer may have an opinion. Different localities can have different rules. kas

27" base cabs and range hoods

I'm putting in 27" base cabs and have ordered a Whirlpool slide-in range. I understand standard 24" base cabinets leave about a 2" gap in back which needs to be covered with a strip of countertop. I assume by adding 3" of depth that grows to ~5". I'm ok with that but am struggling with how best to address the range hood depth. From my research at GW I see that one way is to get a wall mounted chimney hood and use something to bump it out 3 inches from the wall. Would a less expensive 20" depth models be adequate or do I need to buy a pricier 24" hood? Might it also be a viable option to use a small island hood instead since I'll have quite a bit of space between the back of the range and the wall? One other question, Whirlpool's online manual states the wall cabinets on each side above the range must be a maximum of 13" deep. Is that really true? Their diagram is based on base cabinets of 24", counter top 25". If I keep the same proportions (16" wall and 27" base) I can't imagine why that would create any fire hazard if there's none with standard dimension cabinets.

Thank you. The 24" note says will not work with rear brackets. What does that mean? I apologize. How can under mounted glides be attached to the side? Basically, I need to understand what bits and pieces I need to buy to have the 24" undermount. What side brackets would I need to get for the 24" undermount to work? I am trying to figure out the cost difference. Is this the right thing blum 24" What else do I need other than new drawers? I don't understand the rear v. side bracket issue. I apologize for being dense.

Sophie, who is a kitchen designer, and practigal both explained why you would not want to put a 26" sink in a 27" cabinet. I have seen that advice many times on GW in my four years here, but practigal's is the most thorough explanation I've seen. I hurriedly went and measured my sink just to be sure I didn't do such a thing and am breathing a sigh of relief that I have a 23" sink in my 27" cabinet. You'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth the risk to your cabinets and counters. I wouldn't take the advice of Navy Momma's GC, who you've never met. But then, I wouldn't take the advice of your KD either after seeing some of her layout ideas!

bbtondo-- I am in the process of picking out faucets and I seem to like the Delta Allora. Did you get the soap dispenser? There was another thread about people having problems with the soap dispenser being wobbly and such.

positano, I do have the Ticor 405 and replaced a 33" standard double sink with it. I love it, love it, love it! I can't post a picture, but the faucet is off to the side and it is plenty big for my needs! With the faucet off to the side you can rotate it over the counter and fill pots without putting them in the sink. I would recommend this sink highly! The plumber that put it in thought it was an Elkay. The grid that comes with it is wonderful.

Cambro, I had not even thought about the advantage of rotating it off to the side to fill pots. Fantastic!! This is my food prep sink and is located on the same side of the kitchen as the cooktop so this will be very convenient for me. Thanks for that tip!

Yes, I did get the soap dispenser with the Delta Allora. I really like it. It does not sit as tightly on the counter as I would like. I don't know why. Every once in a while I push down on it and it seems to "set" on the counter OK. I would get it again, this really doesn't bother me.
If you do a search here for Delta Allora, there's a video someone made of using it. Good Luck in your decision.

Cambro, did it feel strange to have the faucet off to the side at first. I'm just not sure how I feel about it, although you have a great point about filling the pots.
