How to fit so many faucets behind a prep sink.

Hello, anyone that might have an idea about this. I live in an old home with an odd floor plan, including the kitchen so design has been a challenge. I have a corner near the entrance that's being set up for a beverage and prep. area. I have a Kohler Tray sink, which is only 2" deep. It's terrific for my purposes but I 'm struggling to find all the faucets I need - that will go together. I need a faucet for both hot and cold filtered water, so that choice is limited. Then I need a regular faucet with spray that will go with with it. I don't know whether to install one faucet on each side, even though the drain is in the middle or put the primary faucet in the middle and the filter faucet off to the side. Since the sink is so shallow and it's used for washing fruit and veg a lot, I need a spray. a pull out doesn't look right so I was looking at pull downs. I could buy a faucet with a side spray and that might balance out the which would make 3 faucets and might look more balanced. Too many choices or not enough! Now it's 4:30AM and I'm making typos. Thanks for any suggestions.

Good morning! I woke up a little too early also, so take this for what it cost you!

While I am very intrigued by the cool look of the sink, and especially the idea that there would be more undercab space, I'm glad I have a deeper sink for rinsing veggies because of the amount of splashing that goes on. The spray/pull down is great, and I think you can arrange placement wherever it suits you wrt location of the sink (corner or mid-cab run, eg) and how you might best use it. Ours is on the corner of the island, and I have way too many items jammed along one side to have many options for placement, but I put the faucet on the inner back corner so I'd be less likely to whack into it on the way by, and because I had to snug it up next to the back edge of the sink and wanted to be able to put the faucet at an angle to keep it from splashing out the front. Just my situation and some things to consider.

I also use my prep sink for washing hands as I come in from the garden, or DH/DS come in from the shop (I know, a lot of you are disgusted by that, but I'm so happy they actually wash now that I just don't worry), draining pasta (this would not work for me with a shallow sink), etc. I can also wash a few dishes from the range in it. It is my humble opinion that you will probably have a more useful sink and fewer issues with splashing if you go a little deeper. I love my pulldown, btw, but it requires yet another hole!

Can you rig up a cookie pan or something that lies 2" deep in your present sink and see how you like it? Unless you have really horrible water pressure I think you're going to get a lot of splatter--especially with a spray head. Water will bounce off anything you have in that shallow sink right onto the counters, floor and you. Have you checked into deeper sinks with colanders that fit across the top? You'd be able to rinse off veggies but the water won't be bouncing off the bottom and out.

IÃ¢ÂÂve posted a lot about my layout, sorry. Still havenÃ¢ÂÂt found a KD to work with, so for now MS Paint and you guys are my BFs. At the advice of many suggesting an island, I came up with this plan. Turns out I can fit a HUGE, albeit mostly narrow, island. I think IÃ¢ÂÂm excited. Please critique any aspect of it. Most importantly for now is where the best place for a prep sink is, and can I fit a double wall oven anywhere, leading to a 36Ã¢ÂÂ induction cook top instead of range. The idea of a prep sink is still pretty new to me, so IÃ¢ÂÂm having a hard time deciding where it should go. I assumed on the island but when I look at it, I feel like I have to put it right in the middle of the island for it to make senseÃ¢ÂÂ¦rinse, chop to my right, turn to my right & pop on stove. If thatÃ¢ÂÂs the best spot, I have a hard time believing I need itÃ¢ÂÂ¦the big sink is right behind me there! I was thinking on the PR wall, but I was hoping to possibly use that spot for wall oven(s). soooÃ¢ÂÂ¦ I swallow my pride and post again and humbly ask for your feedback on my latest!! This should end soon, contractors coming tomorrow bringing a KD with them and I'm heading to Oxford Cabinet shop soon! I am still able to change the location of anything in this plan, but IÃ¢ÂÂm TRYING not to move the big window b/c its already a bumped out window there. Thanks as always for any feedback! Not sure why this keeps posting so small . My aisle width between window wall and island is 38". Between PR wall and side of island is 55". Between island and basement door is 52". The island measures 120" long. Its 28" wide at the short end and 41" at wider end.

Some "regular size" faucets are smaller in scale than a prep sink faucet in a different model. You've probably noticed that, like many things, faucets have generally been "Supersized" in recent years. In any event, most "prep sink size" faucets are only a bit smaller that the "regular" size in the same model. Here's a picture of my prep sink size Ladylux in my main sink, which is 25 inches interior width. I have 6 inches of clearance between the back of the sink and the water flow, so bumping the back of the sink or faucet is not an issue at all. There is also more than sufficient spread even without using the pull down feature. Note that I also tested the "bar sink" size of the same faucet, and that one looked a bit small to me given the overall scale of the sink and kitchen. Sorry for the mid-construction pic, but I thought this showed the prep sink size faucet in context of the scale of the rest of the kitchen. Bottom line: pay close attention to the spec sheets of the faucet you're contemplating, and make sure the clearance from the back won't be an issue.

I have a faucet that is by C-Tech-I that looks a lot like the Hansgrohe. I got the C-tech-I to avoid the higher cost of the Hansgrohe, and it is solid stainless steel. I have a sink from the same company and have been satisfied with it too. If I had to do it again I would get the Hansgrohe because the angle of my faucet is so straight down. I get a little bit of a splatter to the back counter. I have since rotated my handle to be oriented over the sink like Breezy and Cheri127 have. It helps keep the wet hand drips from getting all over the back of the counter. This picture is before my handle was repositioned: While I think mine is too tight of an angle, I love it otherwise. I really like the pull down feature over the pull out type. I think it is ergonomically easier.

I chose the Rohl Country faucet to go over my Shaw's 30" farmhouse sink, instead of my original first-choice, the Kohler Vinnata, so it's funny that they're all mentioned here! I originally wanted the Vinnata because I liked the pull-down style, but ended up with the Rohl because: - Several people I talked to said they had to futz with weights to get the Vinnata pull-down to work right. Not a big deal, but something. - The pull-down part of the Vinnata that you'd hold in your hand while spraying felt (and looked, but that's personal) a little big and clunky in my hands. - The Rohl's unique button-style spray activator works really well and is easy to operate, no rubber buttons. It also stays in spray mode without having to hold a button or anything, as the Vinnata does too. (Many faucets, like the Grohe, you have to hold a button for the spray, unacceptable to me.) - I got to try the Rohl with water in a store, and was blown away with well the lever action worked. It was an instant win. I'd tried a friend's Vinnata once, and it seemed fine, but the Rohl and I clicked. - I LOVE the white porcelain handle accent on the Rohl! Of course, I'm blowing smoke here 'cause my faucet is still in a box and I haven't used it yet. I spend more time with my kitchen faucet than I do with my husband (and he doesn't spend enough time with the kitchen faucet, but that's another story). I'm just about married to the thing, so money was (almost) no object. This wasn't the place to save a few hundred dollars or make a snap decision (not unlike choosing a husband :) ).

I was just going to post the same as Zelmar...if you have a spray with a shallow sink, you're gonna have a very wet counter.
