Pics and dimensions of stacked cabs w/ less than 9 foot ceilings
Comments (4)I have 8' ceilings and have made my own stacked cabinets. I took 42" cabs and put a rail where 30" would end at the top, on a regular cabinet. I put 30" doors on the bottom and 12" doors on the top. Voila! Stacked cabinets. My evil plan is to someday buy (or make -- I haven't given up) beaded inset face frames. I'll make the frame the entire 42" tall, with the dividing rail. On another wall, I just found 12" tall cabinets at the reuse center and stuck 'em up there. They fit beautifully and will be stacked when I'm dong painting, etc. Again, with future beaded face frames, it'll be the entire 42" tall. I've heard people here say that under 9' ceilings the stacked cabinets look bad, or something. Can't remember what, but that was the gist of it. I think it looks great. I love the glass doors I found for the uppers, so to me it looks airy with the white cabinet insides showing. I am putting only scribe molding on the top because there isn't room for fancy molding. I don't mind, though. I'm very traditional but simple and clean. I'd ask him for a mock-up or where he's installed them before. Proportion does make a huge difference....See MoreSears Garage door opener won't close w/ remote
Comments (144)The problem I have is my door wont open at all. Neither the remote nor the wall button will budge it. The wall unit and the overhead opener seem to be communicating, since the lightbulbs are flashing, and turn on and off when told to. The remotes seem to have no affect at all. I replaced the chain onto the sprocket assemby and was adjusting the up and down on the main unit, Unit does nothing now when I press button on wall, is it possible to have adjusted the up/down too much to make unit not operate?Anyone have any ideas why my door won't work at all? I would expect the motor to at least chug or something, but...nuthin! Just flashing lights when i press the wall buttons. Sears Model 139.53975SRT1. HELP!...See Morecloset doors, bifold vs regular???
Comments (14)Mark, funny comment. after a lot of searching, I found what I thought was a good pick for bi-fold doors. (for my laundry closet. no room for reg. doors) Home Depot had solid oak bi-fold doors. Apparently they are out of stock. right now I've got those hollow louvered doors and they are crap. thinking I may have to have someone make something because I can't find any suitable replacements....See Morepocket doors on W/D cabinet--do yours work well?
Comments (14)No, you can’t close solid doors while they are running, and not for a long while after all the loads are done either. A dryer especially requires a lot of air flow, because it’s constantly exhausting. A washer requires ventilation for the motor, and to dry out the interior. Front loaders require that you leave the doors ajar for them to dry out. You can’t even physically close the doors with the washer door open. Top loaders do too, but the space to do that is taken up vertically. It still requires air flow for quite a while after the cycles are completed. You are talking a recipe for mold and mildew and burnt up machines if you don’t have a louvered door.....See Moredebrak2008
