Here's to a successful removal tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie. Six weeks sounds like a loooooong time to be patient. You've been patient through delays already.

I'll tell you two things to maybe make you feel better.

1. My reno has passed the one year anniversary of the start of construction. Still no kitchen. No floors in the house, for that matter.

2. I've been thinking about those newborn kittens we could bring home around Halloween. I think we were meant adopt two of the litter. The vet tech told us about her pregnant mom the day we picked up our sweet Archie's ashes. Then the kittens were born that same night! I'm starting to believe it Archie's way of bringing me more furbabies to love. No cat could ever replace him, but he knows how much love I have to give.

Does all this OT nonsense distract you? ;)

Always glad to hear how things go. Please post an update when the new marble is installed. So disappointing, but this is much better than living with the previous mess.

The thing that strikes me in reading through your previous post about the install is the development of problem-analysis-potential solutions. At first you didn't realize how serious the install problem was, and were accepting that somehow a better outcome would require you to pay for it. Because there are people here who actually know their stuff, this got batted around until you could knowledgeably confront your GC and fabricator and make your point that the whole job wasn't OK and that it wasn't your responsibility to bear the cost of a re-do. Good for you. Good for GreenDesigns especially, but all the others too. That's what I love about this forum. Angst about the right blue for the walls or what backsplash is always entertaining and easier to answer, but your type of question and resolution is what makes this forum exceptional. And I love the kitty segues too.

Suzannesl- i totally agree. this forum was insrumental in resolving this issue. all responders helped me to better understand the severity of the issue and seek resolution. thanks to you all! i will definately post pics once the new marble is installed.

how could i forget to reply to you (early in AM here, not awake yet!)

it does sound like it is meant to be. i lost my original babushka cat to kidney failure and was heart broken. but then the following year i found my 2 present cats and realized i have plenty of love to give! having new kittens in the house and hearing those little paws running on the hardwood floor was a great way to heal the heart. here is a pic of my litle jasmine lounging the other evening. she has THE BEST furry belly and likes to lay on her back and show it off! mine were characterized as short hair domestic kittens - ha ha ha! i love all their fur - it worked out perfectly.

It is hard waiting esp when your counters were already installed. But, consider yourself lucky that not only is there another slab but this is being done N/C to you and you will (eventually) have the beautiful marble counters you dreamed of.

I share the agony of waiting. My cabinets have been installed for 5 weeks now and still I have no counters. The slabs in stock were not suitable so I am waiting another 4-5 weeks for a new shipment. It's tough but they are forever slabs so waiting a few months is just the way it has to be.

Marble removal is complete. Big slab broke in 1 place but cabinetry is fine. Onward and upwards!

And thanks for the kitty talk/advice. We raised our three cats from kittens, and haven't had one around for about 14 years. I just remember the things that were broken/damaged from SCPCS (sudden crazy possessed cat syndrome) and all the loss of sleep from midnight jungle gym across the bed. They all finally got old and lazy and then passed. But kittens are too cute to resist! I have to know that I must be committed to adopting them if we go visit.

THAT is short hair? LOL!
