I have tried wireless in the past and the range was not good for the 2 models I tried and returned. I don't know how much money you want to spend, but I purchased for about $300, a system where you have one doorbell, and 2 TV monitors. CAT5 cable was run to each area. Each tv monitor needs a transformer. We put a 'hidden' spot in the garage where all the transformers plug into a double duplex using a plug in strip to give them more room since transformers are wider than a plug size. We basically got some 18g 2-wire and ran that from each tv monitor location to where the 2gang duplex would be in the garage. Then after drywall went up, the transformers were cut and spliced into the 2-wire that went to the tv monitors. Each monitor needs a separate transformer according to the Lone Star people. since you would use 4 locations, they might have something where you just use a couple tv monitors (expensive) and a cpl locations that can just do 2-way audio. This system is also available in a 4 monitor. It was a Genway brand which is sold by a company in Houston, TX. They have real live phone support and were nice. They also have a store on Ebay, but if you buy direct from them like I did, they gave me a discount since they didn't lose money through their ebay fees. They are called Lonestar Group. but there are other companies (google video door intercom). See link. I liked the look and feel of the DNS7 doorbell/camera. If feels heavy in your hand and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it and I live in San Francisco where people are very style conscious. Both the plumbing inspector and the Glass Installer asked me where I got my doorbell. However the angle of the camera is not very wide so if people are not standing right in front of it I can't see them. There is 2-way audio so you can ask them to step back. My system was $300, but they are able to give you a package with more monitors. Just call them on the phone to ask. Their tech support can even explain about how to cut the transformer wire and splice it so you can run it longer through the walls. But it's really simple. We did not do any splicing in the wall. I am having trouble finding the transformer for the doorbell. My house has a crawl space & no attic. I am trying to get an alarm set up but need this info for the alarm doorbell. No such luck in finding it. Idk what I am going to do. An Electrician was here and couldn't fInd it either. I might not be able to have the system installed after all. Why do they hide these things? 3 of us were looking & no such luck.

Pooh and Moni...I love the pictures. Thank you. I was wondering how the exterior bell button would look. I'm so pleased to see that it's about the same size...although cleaner looking...than the electric appliance I removed. That's going to eliminate any need to go back to plead my case to the association. That, in itself, is worth millions. :-) Mary...that range is more than enough for me. The top of my secretary is no more than 13' from the door...going up 13 stairs...and is at the base of the stair case leading to my second [bedroom/office/media room] floor level. It will be ideal for "ear" recognition. And I love the thought of a blue light. Once I come up here in the early evening...I rarely go back to the lower level. It would be wonderful to have the blinking light as as notifier, as well. I'm amazed at all these wonderful options. Where have I been all these years?!?!? LOL Flamingo...I'm a hobbyist much like you and am never without a supply of Velcro...both heavy duty as well as the sewing variety. I had been wondering about how it would weather. Initially...I may...thanks to you...use just the Velcro to affix the bell button to the siding. The area gets full sun light and constant "weather" so if the Velcro doesn't do the trick completely...I may use a combination of the Velcro and a couple of screws. Thanks for reminding me. Snidely...if I had an outlet at or near waist [or higher] level...I would do exactly as you suggest. But...alas...I do not so I'll either rest the chime on top of the secretary...or if that isn't the best place...I'll have to look for a wall area. My mind is working on that solution as I write. :-) Grandmamary...that neighbor is truly fortunate she's still standing. I, too, have the facilities to do serious harm if need be and under those circumstances...and considering my past history...she might have become a sieve. I don't know anyone in this day and age who would be as brazen as she's been. It's a shame her actions have made it necessary for you to be on constant guard...having to lock your doors all the time. There are enough things in life that need that kind of attention without it being so close to home. I wonder if she is suffering from dementia. That would account for her behavior. If she has family that you might be able to talk to...perhaps you could drop the info into their ears or a note to them. If it's dementia...her behavior will get more and more bazaar...and beyond annoying you...it may endanger her life. Thank y'all. You've been wonderful and I feel well informed to carry forth with this project. What a delightful relief that I don't have to wrestle with something more complicated.

I love the wood floors! I also like the tray ceilings, but I'm not sure they would work very well in a small house or room. They may have used the small tables in the hopes of making the rooms look larger, but that idea back fired. I also love all the windows, but I would have to have some method of 'closing' them at night. I want to be able too see out in the daytime, but I do NOT want anyone to be able to see in at night. But lots of windows wouldn't work very well in a small house on a small city or suburban lot where the view would be the siding on a neighbor's house. Sometimes it's really hard to tell from pictures alone, what a room really looks like. This appears to have a semi open floor plan, and I like that idea a lot. Colors don't bother me one way or another. I would never chose to buy or not buy a home based on the existing interior colors (or outside, either, for that matter.). That is easily remedied, a fairly inexpensive 'fix'. The colors and window treatments are not what I would chose, but it I were considering this home for myself, they wouldn't affect my decision, one way or another. Rusty
