Help! Need advice re: 2 pulls on 30" drawers.

Purchased two 5" pulls for each 30" drawer. During install today, my GC mentioned that with 2 pulls, the drawer glides will eventually become off kilter unless we use both hands when opening the drawers. He advised just using one pull in the center of the drawer front, but I don't like the look of one small pull centered, and I'd like to avoid the added expense of getting a larger pull. Has anyone with two pulls per drawer experienced difficulty with the glides over time.

I have both, single in the kitchen, doubles in the butler's pantry, where the drawers are fully of heavy items but are not opened every day.

No problems with either drawer, but the glides are top quality and meant for heavier loads. That's what you really want to check!

If your cabinets have good modern undermount drawer glides such as Blum Tandem or Grass then using two pulls is not a problem. Have em in my kitchen, pot and pan cabinet among others, going on 9 years and I never ever pull on two at a time. I've done hundreds of kitchens this way.

I just moved into a new remodel in Dec. with a 30" GE Profile Induction cooktop and the GE Advantium 120 Oven stacked above the GE Convection oven. I couldn't be happier with my choices. I LOVE the induction for its: 1.)speed 2.)responsiveness (when I have a full boil going and turn it down to a simmer - it stops boiling immediately - my friends with gas are amazed) 3.)ease of cleaning (nothing burns on it, because the top is only as hot as from the heat that came from the pan) I LOVE my Advantium as it performs as a microwave, convection oven and a warming drawer. I've used all three often and just love it. The convection oven function bakes beautifully (muffins, cinnamon rolls, pizza, cookies, etc.) and is quicker to heat up and less heat in the kitchen. And the warming function is great,too. I've left a slice of pizza in there for my teen for 25 minutes, it was perfect! At Christmas I was able to do the turkey in the oven and the green bean casserole and sweet potatoes both in the Advantium on the stacking tray at the same time - worked great! So, all in all I'm very please with my selection and I think you will find pretty good reviews on these items as well. Good Luck!

We have 2 pulls on the cabs that are 30 or wider and 1 pull on everything else. I find that with the smooth operation of our cabs that having 2 pulls is nice. I can reach a pull from either side of the drawer and never use 2 pulls at the same time. It helps if you have a few people in the kitchen at the same time, esp for the 36" wide drawers. I also like the double pull look better on the wide and deep drawers. Most don't do a 4 stack of drawers that wide, so I am not sure how a single pull would work in that instance. These are 30" wide drawers with 2 pulls. I can't picture them with only 1. Notice that neither pull is very far from the center:

Two of the pulls we looked at were very similar to these but smaller, so if you get stuck or are unsure, you can check them out---Rejuvenation's Arched Mission Pull (4" ctc) and Offset Drawer Pull (3.5" ctc). Our local cabinet hardware shop also carried a very similar pull in the 3.5" ctc size but I don't know who makes it or where to get it other than there... Pull sizes seem to be pretty personal. Our Shaker-style drawers are 18" and 27" with 2.25" stiles (rails vary)---we used a single 3.5" ctc pull (4.125" total length). Longer pulls seemed too long on the 18" drawers. I'd play with them once you have the vanity and see how they look and feel---if they're wrong you can order different ones. You'll be using them a long time, so it's worth getting right, IMO. dcindc, I had the same question with my cabinetry and had actually planned on putting in 2 cup pulls that are about 4" in diameter on my 30" drawers. But I really don't mind the look of the one pull now that I've gotten used to it. A friend of mine even commented that she thinks 2 pulls would have possibly looked a little too busy on a 30" drawer. So my answer to your question is, I think 2 of the 4" pulls will look fine and you don't need to increase the size to 6"! Here's a photo of my kitchen (it was getting dark so I apologize for the bad lighting) but the 30" drawers are to the left of the hood cabinetry.

Ditto above, two pulls on mine and I only ever use one at a time. Blum undermounts are worth every penny; the drawers open and close like butter.

I upgraded to extra heaving weight bearing glides on our two 30" drawers, designated for pots and pans storage.

Initially I planned two 6" pulls on each, but at DH's request changed to one 6" centered pull which allows a firm grip wrap around it.

You can go either way obviously.

If you have good glides, it is not a problem at all. I did 2 pulls for all drawers larger than 26in.

I did the same - I needed to add some symmetry to the kitchen.

Great! Thanks for input everyone. I do have Blum glides so -woo hoo!- I'm sticking to my original plan!
