New pictures of my sprouts-lots of pic.
Comments (13)My portable green houses are on a screened in back porch and they get alot of afternoon sun.Lots of humidity/condensation builds up in them so they sprout things pretty well. You can get them at Walmart.com for $34 and if you have them shipped to your local walmart, shipping is free.Another wser showed hers a while back for $39 and when I checked they had been marked down,smile..so I got 2.I mist them ever so often to keep them happy.I am starting to plant out this week.I have alot of huge sprouts-didn't show all of them. The ones I posted was castor bean.Love the roots on wsd sprouts, then they take off. Most of mine have designated spots but for the ones I am unfimiliar with, will go into a holding bed. When I see how they look they will get moved or composted. I feel so sorry for those of you that live up north and are still having snow and cold weather. We have snow maybe one day a year and that is plenty for us.I can not tolerate cold weather so am happy as a lark down here in warm Ga.It is in 70s,one day of 80 and nights in 50-60s.We will get rain later this week but it will stay warm,so thats wonderful.I want to see photos of all your babies when they pop up and can't wait for summer-June-July photos of all the blooms. This is my 3rd yr. to ws and it gets better each year. moonphase...See MoreDo my curtains clash with my proposed BS? lots of pics
Comments (15)Hello Everyone, No one shares my vision that the white would work, that doean't surprise me. However when I look at the third pic above (the pic of the eat-in dining area, there is a sample of white glass tiles on the counter. I think it looks great! It looks so bright and fresh!) I'm not into neutral, I like contrast and I like color. My cabs are obviously traditional, but my syle is moving more modern. I'm trying to take my traditional looking kitchen and move it more modern. buffetgirl - I really don't like brown! LOL! I am trying to work with a situation where "If I knew then, what I know now", I'd do things differently. I've thought about brown instead of black in the backsplash and it doesn't do anything for me, I don't want more brown, I want less brown. Sherrman - while others like it, I don't. It is floor tile and not designed by me. The tile installer picked it and I went with it at the time. Also, due to the new granite, there is about a 1" gap between them. Annz - not changing any of the big stuff, cabs, floors etc. Just can't cost justify it. House is only 5 years old, We built it. We have about 39 sq feet of backsplash to do, Dh and I are discussing the balance issue that you mention. Yes, I want to make sure that it will look good. Thanks for bringing it up! Busybee3 - all green? Well...I thought about that...but just feel that it would be too much green. My walls are green, my countertop on the island is green...I just thought an all green backsplash would just be too much green. Plus I really like the idea of bringing over some white to brighten and de-neutralize the space. Auntjen - Oh...I am so happy that you think it will work!! I don't feel so alone! LOL!! Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, it helps me a lot. I appreciate it....See MoreMy new living room-Before and After/Lots of Pics
Comments (12)Thank you all for your messages! rucnmom----omg is his voice annoying or what?! I didnt even realize he was in the pic lol. msrose---dh was against us replacing the carpet as our old one was in such nice good condition. but it was kelly green during the day, forest green at night and i couldn't handle it anymore. soooooo, to get me to keep quiet, he allowed me to order a new one. whoo hoo!! dgmarie----i thought of changing the curtains but i begged him about a year and 1/2 ago to let me buy them and they cost me $160 a window so i have to live with them at least another year. i have no where else I can use them and it would be wasteful to just get rid of them. *sighs* happyladi-----i had the table next to the sofa but it blocked the clock. i have to wait to ask DH to move the clock and the pics. for now i can live with it. :o) i was so excited to share all of this with you!!!...See MoreMy new kitchen is a mess - Need some help Please - Lots of Pics
Comments (14)What a great kitchen! The main piece of advice I would offer is this: get rid of excess plastic containers. I had zillions of rubbermaid containers that didn't nest at all. I thought I needed every shape and size out there, so I bought far more than I could ever use. After we renovated our kitchen, I gave myself one drawer for plastic stuff. That's it. Now, it's a big drawer, but I have a family of nine people, so we still need quite a bit. First, I tossed or gave away that which would not nest. I standardized on 8" squares that fit into one another. I bought 6 of these and I've never needed more. All the lids are the same size. I have deep rectangular rubbermaid containers for holding flour and sugar in my baking cabinet. I have round containers for lunch boxes: my husband takes leftovers for lunch every day and reheats them in these lightweight containers that are as sturdy as regular rubbermaid. In this drawer I also store two rubbermaid butter dishes, three nesting funnels, 2 two-quart plastic pitchers, 2 small mixing bowls and 2 large mixing bowls, plus about 12 measuing cups from 4-cup to 1/4-cup in size. The key for my kitchen is that any plastic container we have is in this drawer. So I've gone from cupboards and drawers of plastic containers and measuring supplies to one single drawer. I will add that I have a plastic pasta scoop and larger colander that I store under the prep sink. I never save even the nicest of plastic containers that food might come in. If we ever need more, I can use a storage container from another part of the house, wash it out, then put it back when I'm done (like when I need to bring 60 cupcakes to school). I've also done the same sort of thing for lunch boxe supplies and ingredients. I have a baking center, which is to the right of the oven. My baking center is really just an upper cabinet with wire storage things inside that make it easy to cram a lot of stuff in a 30" wide cabinet. I do store extra baking mixes and flour/sugar in my lazy susan cabinet. I don't have a pantry. All of our health food is in another cabinet, near the blender where we make our protein shakes. I bought white plastic wirer coated shelves at the container store to stack dishes and baking goods in those cupboards. And also these tall, narrow two shelf units that fit under my sinks which sit next to the plumbing. They aren't really deep but just hold the basics in view (stuff tends to migrate to the back of the sink cabinet). I also got rid of excess pots and pans. I figured that if my pots and pans couldn't fit into one base cabinet, that I would have a hard time keeping tabs on those as well. My baking pans and cutting boards store vertically in a cabinet designed to hold tall thin items. You have so much wonderful space. If you can be judicious with how you plan your storage, you will find that you can even keep major seasonal items in your pantries as well, or gift wrap, etc. In fact, it looks like you could even put a desk in one of your pantries. Lucky you!...See Morealisande
