A blue green is one of the standards for Arts Crafts movement. When I think of this color it reminds me of the blue greens in weathered copper. Look at wallpapers, fabrics, tiles, ect. and you will find tons of options in this shade. The link below has a variety of resources.

I think blue-green goes very well in Arts and Crafts, especially in the form of verdigris hardware and fixtures.

English Arts and Crafts (looked rather more Nouveau) had a lot of peacock blue. American Arts and Crafts seems to have a lot more leafy, mossy green.

Are you trying to get something that looks and feels very period specific?

Have you searched for Mission/arts and crafts styled kitchens? Here's a link to one I like. A more muted paint color with the backsplash as the focal point.

I agree that blue-green would work well with A & C styling. I have some early 20th century American art pottery that illustrates this color range. These pieces are Van Briggle, and if memory serves, the candle holder is Roseville:

Thank you everyone! I have been looking for examples of A &C kitchens a lot, but it is hard to visualize how it's going to work out in ours.

I do like the more blue tone blue-greens. The color of the pottery is soooo beautiful. I have seen some pieces like that in fact when we paid a visit to the Craftsman Home. They were very expensive.

I am also thinking about a blue-green backsplash tile and then painting up in an off-white color, but I am worried the brown cabinet to off-white transition might be too stark. Any thoughts on this? If I do this, do you think I should pick an off-white with a blue/green tint or a brown tint?

Or should I paint the walls blue-green, too?

In terms of period specific, we are trying to stick to it to some degree, but we don't actually have an arts and crafts home. All attempts to classify our home have failed. :) It is built in 1946 and perhaps has a beach home feeling from the outside. We just like the look of the arts and crafts, though and it keeps us to stick to a style rather than going all eclectic on everything.

That said, I have some turkish pottery and copper plates that I am hoping to decorate with. The pottery has blue-green, tones as well.

You may want to start browsing tiles first (I think that will be the most difficult decision!), and that will help guide you with the subsequent paint color.

Sorry I don't know, it's just something I found while looking for ideas for my kitchen and liked. There are lots of knowlegdable tile people over on the kitchen forum.

Yes, they have made some suggestions for arts and crafts tiles and I looked at them. I didn't see these tiles before, though. The decorative tiles are different than anything I've seen so far and I kind of liked the simplicity of them.

Pinar, want to see something photoshopped?

If you can find something like the backsplash tiles you were thinking of, and maybe some of the accessories (or similar to any of that) online and post links, I could dress up the photo from the cabinetry site. Then you can see some different paint colors. Just to get an idea.

They sell the decorative arts and crafts/art nouveau tiles on eBay. You could put in a few accent pieces. Here's an example...

we considered slate, but I didn't find it very uplifting. i wanted a little bit brightness and color. But I do like it a lot in other applications.
