White Glossy Convex Tile Backsplash (pic)

I these white glossy convex brick tiles at Artistic Tile today and I feel in love with them! What do you'all think about using these as an alternative to the white subway tiles? They have great texture and I think they would look great with painted white cabinets and black absolute granite counters. My only concern is about using the glossy tiles with the polished granite counter. Has anyone here used or seen these tiles in any kitchens, either in person or on this web site?

I think they're lovely, and a fresh take on subways. I think they'd look great in most kitchens, especially those that are kept pretty uncluttered.

As glad posted, we used gray grout, but I'm not sure what kind or what color. The tile guy just presented me with the choices and I picked one. I didn't write down what it was. I used flat white subway tiles in the upstairs bedrooms and the first tile guy I had grouted it white (after I had repeatedly told our builder I wanted gray grout). To me, it looked terrible. To me, the pattern is the point of the subway tile and if you don't use a contrasting grout the pattern is lost. Needlesstosay, the tile guy had to dig out all the white grout and start over. We had a new and much better tile guy by the time we got to the kitchen and the laundry.

Vote! Marble or white tile/dark grout backsplash? (pic heavy)

Now focusing on either completely white marble or pale marble body color with pale streaking. Any suggestions? (All my samples of marble have medium to dark toned streaks.) One idea is pillowed thassos like Mindimoo, but I dont have a picture. Is it my imagination or did my thread about choosing the finish of the Modernaire hood crown disappear?

JB - Thanks : ) The faucet is made by Elkay and it's called "Victoria" (LK2546NK)in satin nickel. It's a single lever, no pull out or pull down. It's supposed to have an 11" reach, but it's acually 9" when mounted with the handle on the side. I bought it on Homecenter.com for $360. I contacted the Elkay Co. regarding the reach issue, and they were great and seemed concerned. They offered to pay for the restocking fee, but I loved the faucet so much, that I didn't want to send it back. The granite is called Luna Pearl. I've been told that it's sometimes called Bianco Sardo. It's 3 cm (also available in 2cm) and we got it through Anaheim Stone Works in Anaheim, CA. It's available at a lot of other granite yards, as well. I was checking the order form from Home Depot where we got our subway tiles. They are made by Dal Tile and called Rittenhouse, color is "white" and it says Semi Gloss. Even though it says semi gloss, they are really glossy imo.

Just to clarify, matte tiles are as easy to keep clean as glossy. The glaze (liquified glass) is not shiny but the tile is still glazed. I mixed glazed and matte as per an inspiration photo I saw. Again, there is no difference in cleanability or feel. I don't really have an opinion on which glaze you choose, looks wise.

Those are great. To me the white looks like a basketweave, so I think it would work in a traditional or contemporary space, even though they are pretty contemporary.

Two things: The maintenance is going to be higher because of the 3D nature, with all those up-facing edges.

The grout application is going to have to be expert and flawless.

I think they'd be lovely, but may be hard to clean behind the stove. They remind me of basketweave too and I think they are both dramatic yet peaceful. I can definitely see why you like them.

They are very pretty but I think too many nooks and crannies for a kitchen where grease can settle on the tops of the tiles and in the recessed parts. Also the top protruding edges will be a dust collector. I've seen them installed in their showroom in a bathroom setting. I wouldn't use them in a kitchen for the reasons above.

I agree with blondelle and dianalo!
Personally, I would not want to do that grout job or have to clean & dust it.
I would like this as an accent rather than an entire wall area. I think the teardrop shape would also make a great accent. I especially like the high gloss in white the most. It's clean and fresh.

The outlet coves are hard to blend in.
