Smudges - Clean Steel vs Stainless Steel
Comments (0)We want the stainless look, but not the smudges - have little kids. GE sells a "clean steel" finish that looks like stainless (less reflective) and claims to be much less prone to smudging? Anyone tried the clean steel and have opinions?...See Moremark from sticker on stainless steel refrigerator
Comments (12)Super fine steel wool with the grain works wonders. this is the 000 or 0000 variety. It will remove even stubborn rust stains that appear on stainless steel (i know, i know, it's not SUPPOSED to rust) but it does once in a while and this works. Our Gaggenau dishwasher had rust spots on the front and this got them off, looks like new. Follow with Sheila Shine. It's the greatest thing ever. Expensive but it lasts forever. It's not the most environmentally friendly product but it's what the professional stainless steel people use. When I bought my commercial range and my fabricated my custom stainless sinks and counters in my last kitchen, this is what the steel worker recommended. One tip- use the same rag, keep it in a little ziplock bag. I've had mine for years, you use less. My tiny can has lasted 5 years almost. I get it at the commericial kitchen supply, not sure if it's on the internet. The can is blue and white. You won't be disappointed....See MoreWhat NOT to clean your stainless steel appliances with...
Comments (15)Stainless steel is widely used now a days. It is said to be strong but surely not maintenance free. it needs to be kept dry and away from things that can cause it to rust. As the metal becomes old, it loses its original shine and starts looking dull. At such times we tend to use all sorts of methods to make it look new. At such times we should avoid scrubbing the metal because this might create scratches on it. Use of acid based cleaners should strictly be avoided. These cleaners may cause harmful reactions and spoil the look and quality of the metal. Use of organic cleaners could possibly be much safer for cleaning stainless steel appliances. Here is a link that might be useful: Some organic cleaners...See MoreStainless Steel vs. Platinum Stainless Refrigerator
Comments (9)I debated the same issue and decided a cleaner look (no smudgy fingerprints & streaks) and easy maintenance was more important to me than having everything match exactly so I ordered a Samsung platinum. When viewing in the store, it definitely looked much cleaner than all the SS refrigerators that surrounded it. It has a matte finish so doesn't have the "shine" of SS and is also darker in color. Initially, no appliances were going next to my frig my layout changed and I have a SS/black microwave right next to the frig so we'll see how they look together when frig arrives. Fortunately, the saleswoman said I could return it for a SS if I really didn't like how the finishes look together so decided to give it a whirl....See Morepatti823
