Is Raising the Diswasher a Good Idea?

In a kitchen showroom I saw a dishwasher with a cabinet drawer below it, which raised the dishwasher to a more comfortable height for loading the dishes. The drawer provided a convenient spot for storing dishwashing tablets/soap. My KD planned this into my kitchen, at my request. My dishwasher will be located next to a wall, so the raised countertop will be against a wall on one side. I have just learned that because of my window height, the dishwasher will be raised only 6". I looked at a drawer that will fit in 6" in the showroom, and it is pretty useless -- looks like about an 1" of actual drawer space -- so it will just be a "false" drawer (no storage).

For those of you with raised dishwashers, do you like it? Is it easier to load? I think I have enough countertop that "losing" the countertop is not really an issue.

I just found GW and have been hooked! You guys have great ideas!
