Kitchens in Action - Happy BD, Julia! (pic heavy)

Seeing as August 15 was Julia Child's birthday, DH and I decided to pay tribute and cook a meal from Mastering the Art of French Cooking, inspired by both the movie (which is FAB) and this month's Cooking Club feature in Bon Appetit magazine. We switched out the dessert and added an aperitif/cocktail snack. Here are the results!

The menu:

Ivan's Aperitif and peanuts (a favourite Julia and Paul cocktail snack)

Pissalidiere

Poulet Saute aux Herbes de Provence

Ratatouille

Green Salad with Sauce Vinaigrette

Tarte Tatin

The aperitif packed a delicious French punch.

The main event

A green salad, while no doubt refreshing, was impossible to squeeze in so we skipped it. And after a lovely bottle of rose, we decided the tarte tatin would have to wait until the morning...

A truly decadent breakfast!

After this meal, I have a new appreciation for Julie Powell's accomplishment.

All in all, a delish dinner :-)
