Since you notice the color at certain times of day, it may have to do with the angle at which the light hits the surface. If you typically see the effect on clear days, in the morning or evening when the sun is low in the sky, then intense undercabinet lights might be a way to replicate it. In terms of sheer quantity of light, however, the sun pretty much blows artificial sources out of the water. It's unlikely you'll be able to get the same effect all of the time. Good luck.

I was posting on the HVAC section of this site about a replacement we are doing for the home and decided to search for ubatuba on white as we just signed the paperwork to have ubatuba put in our Myrtle Beach Oceanside condo that already has white cabinets. We are pulling out the old aqua green laminate coutertops from the kitchen and both bathrooms & are moving into the modern ages with granite. Here is the BEFORE for reference and I will post the AFTER once it's been completed next weekend! This particular picture is a "brighter" than it looks in person. The coutertops are really THAT green and the cabinet's belnd in better with the white appliances that this makes it appear. They are actually more of a whitewashed/weathered look in person. We also have plans to replace the dated tile with the newer 3-foot by 1 foot grey tile

Definitely go with what you love. It’s your kitchen. As for being dated, they are still selling Ubba Tubba, so people must be liking it and buying it. Outdated styles eventually get retired. Here in Pennsylvania, cherry is still a solid choice for kitchen cabs and is a premium high end wood. I just remodeled a bath with dark cherry cabs and Cambria Bradshaw quartz, which is also becoming “dated” according to some. Our plumber said I should be an interior designer when he saw the finished product. I do not regret my choice nor will you if you love it! Good luck!

You could do either the bisque or the white. Your trim is white and your backsplash could be either white or cream - depends which looks best. Maple seems to work with both, but get samples of both. Usually I say don't worry about the backsplash till after the counters go in, but it might effect your sink color choice. That said, my backsplash is cream and my sink is white - but my trim and appliances are white too - so many surfaces to think about:) Here are some pics I found: You need to blow this pic up - the little bit of the sink looks white: This countertop is laminate, so the sink is over mount - white with dark counters, and actually looks fine even though there is no other white: A white apron front sink would look very pretty if you like the style. This is a short apron Kohler Whitehaven with a dark countertop. The "short apron" style can be installed on a standard sink base cabinet: I have that same sink - can be seen in the link I posted in my earlier post. I really like it and with the dark counters, it will lighten up the space. It is a little pricy - mine was around $960 a couple of years ago and I needed to save up a few more months before I began my refresh - not a problem with a functioning kitchen. These kitchens have tall apron apron front sinks. That would require extra work to adjust the cabinet and fit smaller doors: As I mentioned earlier, if you do not have under cabinet lighting, be sure to get some - if only between the sink and range. That is where I have mine - you can see it in my link. You will want it to lighten the effect of the darker counters but also it is wonderful to help see what you are doing.
