Great kitchen! The article says the perimeter cabs are Super White. It's very white, btw. If you're considering it, I suggest you buy a sample and try it first. It can be blinding in bright light. It's a very clean white though, if that's what you're after.

Thanks. I read that, but the cabinet hood is a different white, and I think that's just how it came from the cabinetmaker. What color do you think the paint on the cabinet hood comes closest to?

The hood looks like the same color as the perimeter cabs, Super White. It was made and painted by the cabinet maker.

I'm with Breezy. It looks the same to me and the copy doesn't seem to contradict this.

I like the clean, white look of the cabinets, but I don't want the paint to look too bright.

I'm planning to use bianco romano granite, so this is a good picture to work off of. What do you think is the color of the cabinets in this picture?

That's definetly not white. It looks like an off-white paint that's been glazed, but it's hard to tell on the iPad.

Whites are difficult to pick. I suggest getting a sample of the granite and taking it to a Benjamin Moore store. Pick several chips that look good and take them home. Look at the BR and chips in your light. Then get a sample can of the colors your like best and paint some poster board (or your cabs if youre ready) in big swatches. Hold them up in your light in the kitchen with the BR. Then ignore. Try to catch the color out of the corner of your eye and see if one pops out as the best.

Granite slabs vary a great deal within a particular name, and paint varies with light. What looks good in a photo may be all wrong for you.

This is my pipe dream house, BTW...it's a couple of miles from us, and the "before" house is basically our house so as I was watching the project I kept thinking "man, if only we could do that to ours..." ;)

But yes, agreed that it's all the same color---just lighting (which is a good lesson with whites, since they do change a lot in different lighting, and especially in natural vs. artificial light). You pretty much have to get samples, paint, and then wait and see how they look throughout the day.

I used BM Super White in my house and it's not blinding at all. It's a great, crisp color without any distinct undertone, which makes it a neutral.

It's great for ceilings. I used it also on woodwork and it looked good on that as well.

What it didn't do well is work as a whitewash for raw wood though most wouldn't use it for that.

They have a huge white card, however, any white can be calibrated for use with other colors. Lately I've been liking less contrast between woodwork and wall color -- the closer colors are more subtle, especially with darker colors.
