Getting the smell out of shells...

My husband and I spent Christmas at the ocean. Over the few days we were there, we collected shells for a crazy decorating project I am thinking about doing (Anyone remember the shell-encrusted entry table in, I think, House Beautiful a few months ago? I totally want to encrust something in shells now).

Every evening I carefully washed the shells in the hotel bathtub and dried them on towels. I was *trying* to leave all the mess and smell THERE, but it followed the shells home! We just got home and I opened up my bounty only to find that they reek of that weird oceany-fishy smell, especially the sand dollars.

They are now soaking in my tub with orange floor mopping solution, but I am still smelling something awful and fishy. I really don't want to use bleach because I don't like to use harsh chemicals, but if it is the only way to clean them then I will.

Any ideas? I have to get them clean and out of the tub by tonight so my husband can take a shower LOL.
