Help on size of pantry corner cabinet and a drawer

My cabinet guy finally drew out my cabinet setup so I am trying to work my way through each wall.

My current dilemma is HOW WIDE SHOULD MY TALL CORNER PANTRY BE? The doors to the corner cabinet will be hinged (on the corner) and the main hinge will extend so that I can fully open up the corner door to have full access to the shelves. I recently decided that instead of storing my pots and pans in a *low* cabinet, that these big shelves at waist height would be so nice to put my most often used pots and pans (and cast Iron) The size of this pantry affect the size of an additional pantry that we will store food in, & my desk.

If you look at my corrections in RED you'll see that with 22.6 inches of total clearance in my corner pantry

My 2nd pantry has 18 3/4 inche clearance

My desk top is 47", knees pace is 23

I have a 2nd BASE corner cabinet set up the same way (just not tall) HOW BIG SHOULD THAT BE? If I make it smaller I can create a bigger drawer near my sink -probably used for dishtowels. The bigger the corner cabinet, the smaller the drawer.... HOW BIG SHOULD MY DRAWER be?WIth my corner cabinet @ 14" each side giving me 19.79 inch clearance, I can fit A 7inch drawer (inside dimensions) which will perfectly fit my current dishtowel...Is it risky to go that small on hte drawer. IF SO, would you choose smaller cabinet with bigger drawer?

I wouldn't want 3 full sized things in a row - 2 pantry doors and fridge/frzr

Thanks, desertsteph, I completely understand - its is almost a wall of cabinets. But the wall opposite this one has no upper cabinets and I have a 4ft tall by 9 foot wide window. So I think openness of the one wall will balance the heaviness of the other, plus, I want lots of storage =). I am just trying to get the biggest bang for my buck, and I don't have all my kitchen stuff here at this temporary home so it's hard to visualize where things will go or the best way it may fit.

You can create this look by installing a 15" 3 drawer base on the bottom and then a 15" deep upper cabinet that is tall (depends on the height of your cabinetry) that sits right on top. We are planning something like this (see computer rendering). Someone on Houzz in an old thread suggested you can add a nice detail by installing in a thick horizontal board over the lowers with a nice edge detail and the uppers sit on top. That's what I'm thinking... Tablecloths, formal place settings, serving platters. Stuff that we rarely use. Just to be clear, what I've asked the designer to add is a full height pull-out (imagine the sort of thing that folks use for garbage inserts) with several rots. I've not used rots anywhere else but since the overhang would block a standard drawer it made sense. It was rots or standard shelves, so it seemed like the lesser of two evils. I have a smaller kitchen so had room for only 2 drawer stacks: 24" and 36". The smaller drawers have the things like plastic storage, foil, Saran and bags, napkins, dishtowels, hand cream, canning jar lids etc. The lowest large 10" drawer has the pots and pans: I stack the lesser used large pans, and skillets, but there is room for the pots without stacking plus a few other odds and ends. The next 10" drawer up has the lids, baking and casserole dishes, mixing bowls and large measuring cups -- the lids and casserole/baking dishes are on their sides in holders. The top drawer is for utensils and silverware -- and is the only place that I think the drawer-in-drawer would be nice to have, so I could have the cooking utensils in one layer and the silverware in another. Lots of wasted space in that drawer. In the pantry I have drawers behind a door. I only made sure that one was spaced to allow for cereal and oatmeal boxes to be upright (and one shelf has my microwave). I could add another drawer or two by narrowing the space between drawers, and I may do so later.

The corner pantry breaks up what could be, continuous counter space. I have a reach-in pantry that holds as much as yours…without having to store stuff on the floor. Getting rid of the corner pantry will give much more flexibility to the future kitchen plan, and make for a more efficient setup. And, move the microwave to an upper shelf, and put a real venting hood above the cooktop. Like this:
