Anyone have CAMBRIA 'Reading' Countertops?

We are considering Cambria and like the color Reading because it will tie in off white, oak and darker cherry which is all over in our home. But, I don't know if I like the way it looks with stainless steel (it is a real brown-y color).

Does anyone have it, or has anyone considered it? Pics would help if possible. Thanks so much!!!

My neighbor has cambria and it is terribly scratched (only two years installed) and she is really disappointed in it and wished she had bought granite. After hearing her woes I wouldn't ever consider Cambria for countertops in my house.

Oh man, that's not good news. I think I'm going to research it a bit more- I did not think that would happen. I do have a brownish color of granite in mind if I stray away from Cambria. Thanks!

Our Cambria Windsor had to be done in two slabs on our lengthy island, and the two slabs did not match each other, as they came from different batches. One looked grey-er and one had more beige in it. In any light, you could see the seam. Both Cambria and the fabricating company were wonderful in getting replacement counters for me. The countertops on the island now match and they look seamless, but they are slightly beige-ier than the counters along the sink wall which I didn't have them replace (due to sink and stove cut-ins), but NO ONE notices any difference in color. They will not guarantee matches to the sample, though.

I have Dovedale. Sorry no pics. After one year it is holding up really well. My dad spilled a turmeric sauce all over the counters. I did not notice he missed a few drops here and there till three weeks later. It took quite of bit of elbow grease but I got it all out. First day after the counters were put in my uncle made sangria and let wine and lemon dry on the counters. Cleaned up right away. Have made marinara sauce from scratch a dozen or so times. As you can probably tell by now we are a messy clan but it cleaned up right away. When looking through pics I chose Torquay because it was the most realistic looking Carrera marble quartz. I really like the 12x12" sample. Then I went to the Cambria distribution center to see a full slab and hated it. Too busy and gray. I like the Dovedale because from five feet away it looks white but then up close looks like a white stone with perfectly placed caramel colored vintage hardwater stains/veins. Like the romantic pictures I have in my head of a public building in Rome. Not how most of those stones would look in real life. But maybe the most beautiful three foot section. Just reproduced over and over in my entire kitchen. Some people want sections of pure white while most quartz, including Dovedale, have speckles of grey. This hides dust. Pure white or pure black is going to show every bit of dust and debris. I would not want one of the pure colors. I don't have a domestic staff to clean morning, noon, and evening so it looks good.

You need to borrow the samples and look at them all together in your bathroom and light. Leave a hefty deposit if they aren't the type of shop that lends samples. For difficult shops I will ask for an hour or two for the loaner, and make sure to return at the exact time I promised. I've had so many samples look perfect in the tile shop and then look terrible in the actual space.

Has anyone gotten the Elkay sink that comes with Cambria countertops.

I would recommend asking the builder for the full model number, especially to ensure they don't have the wrong diagram there (and it turns out to be a 7.5" deep sink instead of 9")

Have you looked at Autumn Wheat, Coffee Brown, or Brown Antique Granite. All are beautiful. Agreed that the "Reading" is a beautiful color but these granites come close but have more depth and life. Happy hunting.

We had Cambria Somerset installed in April and we have been thrilled with it- not a single scratch. So easy to clean- the only downside we've had is that sometimes it's difficult to tell when it's dirty!

I've added a contact about quartz scratching from Stoneadvice.com. The thread was about Caesarstone but it is a quartz as is Cambria. Sorry, I don't know how to make a link so you will have to copy and paste if you are interested in reading about quartz and scratching.

If you like Cambria, get Cambria! I have quartz (Zodiaq), nearly 5 years old, and have never had a scratch. (on the other hand, I'm putting in a new bathroom and have purchased granite...).

Hi- We love our Cambria Somerset and have not had any problems of any kind with it. No scratches, chipping, dings, huge resin blobs.... It is absolutely beautiful and was the best choice for us because of it's ease of care, resiliency and the Somerset was the perfect compliment to the sandstone wall we have on one side of the kitchen. I didn't have Cambria Reading, but I had Cambria Windsor and I LOVED it. Not a problem in 4 years. Wish I had it in this new house. I'd get it again in a heartbeat.
