Hutch - should it stay or should it go (pic)

Here is an original hutch in my 50's ranch home. It is positioned on a wall that separates my LR from Kitchen. Behind it are the basement stairs, so I'm limited to a 12" depth. Right now the wood is the same as my kitchen cabinets. The only front on view is from the hallway that leads from the two bedrooms and the bathroom. You mostly would see it as you walk by. I don't think I want a stand alone hutch as I hate narrowing the opening with furniture, as my dining room is small as it is.

My question: Should I remodel with my kitchen decor or my LR decor ( it needs some remodeling attention as well, later on) or should I get rid of it. I'm doing a natural maple kitchen with chocolate glaze.

Thank you
