I've had wonderful luck with overstock.com. I found 4 of the rugs in our home from there. They have everything from Persian rugs to indoor/outdoor rugs to coordinating runners and doormats.

What was the color scheme you were looking for?

lishaana - Have your tried looking on ebay for the RH one you wanted?

Do you have a photo of the RH rug, just in case someone has seen similar?

msslauren- I've exhausted all of the online sites including overstock.

lyfia- I have checked ebay, they only have a few RH rugs.

mjlb- here is the pic of the RH rug and of my artwork. I was looking for more blue, but the blue is very hard to match. Most blue persian rugs are turquoise, robin's egg/Tiffany blue or ice/grey blue.

You've probably looked here before, but just in case...

On my screen several seemed to be in the ballpark at least.

I love the rug you tried to get from RH. A little blue goes a long way in a rug.

Because of the brightness of your art, maybe a rug with just some accents of your colors.

Horchow has some great rugs with blue and rust in them.

Since the rug and the artwork are not next to each other, it really isn't necessary to match the one to the other exactly. Any touches of blue in the rug will make the eye accept the connection with the picture. This is just my opinion, but an oriental rug may not really be the best choice for a contemporary painting in this style. But if an oriental is your choice, the color of the roofs in the picture echoes the terra cotta color in the rug and I don't see any problem in combining the two. A lot will depend on what else is in the room and how those objects echo the colors of the rug and picture. Also, it's generally accepted that art does not have to "match" with furnishings or carpets in a major way, so I would think any rug with terracotta and blue will fill your needs quite nicely.

ingrid_vc- I'm actually open to contemporary rugs as well (it actually was my first thought)- My main problen, however, was finding a rug whose blue didn't "clash" with the blues in the painting. I didn't need an exact match , but all the aqua and robin's egg blues just looked bad near the painting which has more of a cobalt to indigo blue. We were going to pull colors from the painting and/or rug for the throw pillows etc. so the blue will be a bit more prominent.

I've also looked for ivory rugs with accents of terra cotta or blue, but haven't been too successful in finding any, so that's why i was looking into the custom rugs.

Parma42- I actually tried out one of the rugs from horchow(I ordered the 2x3 to check it out)- but the blue looked almost green IRL.

Orley and Shabahang -- they have a web site. I had one made from them -- they sent me a picture of the weavers in mid-process. I'm very happy.

Ok... found this one. It's contemporary. Need honest opinions. Does it work? Do you all like it? The couches we are ordering and our current coffee table are also below (they'll be in some complementary shade of tan/beige)

This is the room. We are putting 13 foot wide by 10 foot high (staggered height) built-in entertainment center on TV wall in a Dark Cherry finish (same shade as the adjacent doors)

I think that rug goes really well with the art. I particularly like the way the terra cotta rectangles echo the roofs of the houses. I always like to repeat themes (color, shape, line) in that way.

From your photos, it looks like art will be on wall behind loveseat? If that is the artwork on the floor, it's not as large as I expected, and will not be so dominant.

I think the rug is okay, but it doesn't really grab me. (I realize this is absolutely no help, since it's just person's taste.) OTOH, With the white walls, and dark floors, I do like the bold colors of the rug.

Do you have anything in mind for window treatments, or will they be left bare?

Big time disclaimer here...I love rugs. Because of that, and my decor, I really don't lean to the very contemporary ones.

If I remember correctly, from your last post, the art is a piece from your stay in the Greek Isles. I see nothing in the modern rug that conveys the feeling of that time.

I liked your pick from RH. I know with your transitional style, you could go either way with your flooring but I'd rather go with something that picks up the look of your gorgeous coffee table and wood floors.

I also remember that your DH was against paint of any color. A more traditional rug would soften out? the room, also.

mjlb- the artwork is 49" x 25" and it will be on that wall behind the loveseat. I was planning some simple roman shades for the windows in a solid color (color to be determined-probably in another post!).

I'm not super enthusiastic about the rug. My other concern is that it had a lot of orange in it and our adjacent eat in area(which is behind that half wall in the pic) has orange upholstered contemporary dining chairs and the rugs in the kitchen are orangey and the pendants over the island are amber/orange. So i'm thinking it'll be orange overload.

Parma- I'm in total agreement with you. DH tends to favor the really traditional persian rugs, which may or may not work in this space.

Below are few of the rugs DH or myself are considering(I found these on the website recommended by elizabeth10029) These are customizable, so I would be able to change the colors(for $$$ I bet!)

DH really liked this one. I like the colors, but worry it may be "too formal" for the space, especially with the contemporary couches.

I likes this one because it was a sort of a hybrid of a contemporary and more traditional rug. DH suggested we get it made in Blue with orange accents. I'm leaning towards maybe a beige with blue and orange accents or accenting the existing orange with more blue.

I don't mind any of the rugs you've just shown. My thoughts were leaning toward a Moroccan pattern because they don't have the seriousness of the traditional, which you are sounding like you are shying away from. They still add an ethnicity that's cool.

The third rug is playful and interesting.

I was browsing around this morning and found another Moroccan style rug on Safavieh's website.

Yep, that's the rug. Styles like that are so easy to fit into just about any decor. I like the other one, too. I was just looking for colors, along with a pleasing style.
