art/decorate huge wall-any ideas?

I saw a couple other similar posts recently but they aren't exactly my same dilemma.

My TV wall is huge, 10 feet wide x 14 feet tall. The TV is on a stand, speakers on each side which take up most of the width. The TV and stand are about 5 1/2 feet high. So I have about nine feet of blank wall above the TV.

I currently have a picture that is about 3 1/2 feet wide x 4 feet high and it looks TINY--way too small.

The look needs to be contemporary so I do not want multiple smaller pieces.

I thought of using canvas art-- I think that is what it is called-lightweight and stretched onto thin boards-but all I can find is 4 feet x 4 feet.

Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe even a few different colors of paint on the wall. Thanks!

How about wallpaper? It would give you something cohesive yet not distracting.

I think you can still get a contemporary look with multiple pieces, but they still need to be fairly large for that space. Maybe 3 vertical rectangular canvases hung next to each other. Or if you found 40x40" pieces that you love and can find 4 that look good together, hang them in a square with 2 up and 2 down.

Or how about a contemporary canvas floor cloth or tapestry hung with clips from a curtain rod with cool modern finials? You could hang one or three depending on what you find. (Odd numbers seem to work best; 2 might feel like it's dividing the wall in half.)

If you are creative you can create the canvases or floor cloths yourself, borrowing ideas you find online.

If you can post a picture of the wall, people might have more ideas or can do mockups.

I love, love, love art. I do somewhat intentionally match it to my room, usually with a common color. That does not mean the dominant colors are all the same, maybe just splashes. I know this is not a popular practice in these forums. I also match the theme of art because I am drawn to people. 99% of my art is of faces. Because I am drawn to particular colors, most of my art and my decor also reflects that. My home contains art that I love but it must also fit the criteria of being able to decorate my space in terms of size, color, and theme, all while speaking to my soul. Even though I coordinate my art, my house is the exact opposite of Home Goods. Truth be told, I do have a handful of items from them ;-). You can still have interesting and unique spaces that are not all matchy matchy while still coordinating art.

I think an abstract landscape/water piece, with some color, would look fabulous there … and play into your wonderful views. It would also bring warmth in, while keeping with the very modern style of the room. I’d look on Etsy, on gallery sites, Ebay, and/or visit local places to find a piece that speaks to you. This is a prominent spot — I wouldn’t buy a big piece of generic wall filler. Think of buying a set of artworks -- hang in a grid.

You could even use a set of your own photos -- maybe ones from around your favorite parts of your area (parks? restaurants? tree? architectural parts of buildings?) -- have them reprinted in black-and-white and in larger sizes -- and you could have them done in large mats and simple black frames.

You could start with a black or silver-framed mirror -- and then add the prints.

Sorry I see you found 48" x 48", not 40" x 40". You could still hang 4 of them in a square (if it's affordable) leaving just a few inches between them.

Also, think about your own interests and what you and your family love. For example, if you're boaters, maybe you could hang oars; travelers: find something from your favorite place to visit (e.g. a metal Eiffel tower wall hanging) or a huge wall map. I know, it's all easier said than done, but post some pictures of your space and tell us your interests, and I bet you'll get some good ideas here!
