Other than the width that you need, what specifically makes it for doors? You can have bamboo or woven wood shades made in any width you want from a lot of places. You can also have them lined so that they are not see through. I just had a shade made for my son's room and had it lined (you know teens need their dark rooms in the morning!) and it arrived yesterday. It's not up yet or I'd take a picture for you but I'm very happy with the quality

JC Penney always runs a 70% off custom made blinds, etc. You might want to try them.

I have bamboo roman shades from Lowe's on my double front doors (not french doors but leaded glass down to about 2 feet above the floor). Although I didn't use them, Lowe's has liners for the blinds. The website doesn't say, but I believe they are adhesive and stick to the back of the blinds.

I had bamboo blinds once in my kitchen that were too big for the window. I measured the amount that I wanted to cut off, marked it with a marker, used *sharp* garden nippers to cut off the excess.

It's just that the mounting hardware that comes with the shades are made for mounting inside a window casing, they really don't work exactly to mount on a door. Are there any sites that make them to be mounted on a door?

You're talking about the difference between inside mount and outside mount hardware. Often you can make the adjustment yourself on an existing headrail, but when you are buying new, especially if you are ordering, you specify which you want.

Jockwing, most websites that sell these things have very detailed "how-to" instructions and FAQ. Take advantage of them.

Here is an example of one site that explains how to measure for outside mount on French doors. Make sure to click the 'next' at the bottom for other tips on the stack height and such.

Don't forget to get the bottom holders for them. Sometimes they are included and sometimes they have to be ordered separately.

Sorry if I'm stupid, but I should just go ahead and make sure to specify outside mount, and they will attach properly to a door? I believe the types sold at Home Depot and Lowe's only come with inside mounting kits.

My bamboo roman shades from Lowe's attache to the door with an L-shaped bracket. It attaches like an upside down L, not a sideways L. The part that sticks out from the top has a threaded piece that points downward. There are holes in the header that the threaded piece goes through and then wing nuts screw on from under the valance to hold the shade to the brackets. I know this explanation is probably confusing. I would love to post pictures, but I am in the middle of a kitchen reno (waiting for the drywall guy now) and I have removed the blinds to keep them from getting dusty while the drywall work is getting done.
