Christmas Village anyone?
Comments (6)Sandy your home is beautiful and you sure know how to decorate for the holidays! I adore the village with the greenhouse! Never saw one of those. How cute. We have almost the same living room paint color. Might try to make my SS pic in front of LR wall. Great idea with the tray Karen! Some large can lids might work also ... thanks for posting that from the Inspirational Album! I love setting up nativities or Christmas villages. Haven't been able to drag out all my decorations in basement, DD's stuff is stacked in front of it, and I only got out just a few things this year. 2 tiny trees already decorated lol. my front door wreath. a few smalls, not much else. But Santa's gonna visit the GS's tomorrow night! ~tenderlee...See MoreDH - Christmas Village #2 (pic heavy)
Comments (13)Thank you again ladies... Jeanne...A Norman Rockwell for sure and it IS something to see when the lights are on at night. I also mentioned it's nice to listen to as well. There's music and special sounds that make it come to life! Luvs..DH & my DGson seem to share the same 'attention to detail' attitude! They both enjoy detailed projects that I know I don't have the patience for. As far as the hutch on the porch, this is the first Winter I'm leaving it there. So far it seems to be sheltered from wind and rain and even the snow we had in Oct. If I see the weather effecting it, I'm going to cover it up. I know Jeanne's is protected with an inside porch..and can keep so many more great things on it during the Winter. PM...thank you - DH's village all started as a gift of two buildings from someone years ago - Knowing he loves detailed hobbies...that's all he needed to get him going. As it is now, not all the buildings and accessories our out because of space issues. I did mention in my other post that it's all put away now - he's very organized, and it went very quickly! I know I couldn't do it as fast or as organized! jane...See MoreI hope not tooo late - DH's Christmas Village #1
Comments (14)Tell him YES, he IS famous. I am putting some of his Village pix in our Inspiration album for people to enjoy for many years to come. I just need to get my butt in gear and finish loading some Xmas photos to our albums. I'm so far behind its ridiculous. Sorry about that. Its been so long ago, but I once saw a Village set-up idea that blew me away. I think it was in the Sat. home section of our paper years ago. The lady had an area in her home that was sort like an alcove, or maybe a giant coat closet. Her village was set up with 3 or 4 multi-tiers, tho it didn't look like just "houses on shelves" at all. It was really set up as a town and had one or two trains. But she had some kind of bi-fold doors, and when not displayed, she just closed the doors and no one knew there was a huge Village behind them!! I loved it. hugs, Karen...See MoreMy Xmas Village
Comments (21)Jim I'm so sorry to hear the arthritis is in your hands. It must be so hard on you to do things you want or love to do. Don't know how you tied all the bows on your pups! Oh thanks, I think, Jim. Your bows reminded me I'd forgotten to put them around my large whippet statues. sigh. Your's look quite festive, and probably feel same way after their baths. LOL And you really made me chuckle at your comment about the "female version of a train setup". When I was in grade school, I wanted a train set in the worst way. And being an only child, my parents were more than willing to spoil me. I ended up with two neat train sets. Funny thing is, I'd forgotten about that until last week. I asked my daughter what her two little girls had on their Xmas lists, and it seems the FOUR year old wants a train set. Now I wonder who she takes after.........LOL. My cats aren't interested in my village or its snowy ground but I think cause nearly every inch of the snow is covered with people or something. Also none of mine are kittens. Tho I'm still very concerned at what an angel the Brat Cat is being. He's not stealing any ornaments this year! Maybe he doesn't like the way I decorated this time. Kathleen, your little gdau is a GREAT excuse to start a village collection. That will be years and years of fun shopping and setting it up, and trying to resist all the too cute accessories. You'll have a ball. Errrr, I mean she will. Lynne, what a wonderful story of the setup you and your late husband had. I think the combo train/village setups are especially wonderful. I'm so happy your DH now is encouraging you to have a village, and things are GOOD again for you. Happy HoliDAZE, Karen...See Moreromy718
