Christmas Village anyone?

How many of you have Christmas Villages? I know Karen does!

I have an extensive collection! This year, I wasn't going to put any of it up, as I'm behind in everything, but I couldn't resist putting up a tiny part of it.

I have a shelf my son-in-law made that hangs from my mantle for it. I usually have parts of it all over the house, but this year the houses on the shelf will have to do.

I wish there was more time between now and Christmas...I love doing this!!

I love them but just have a church & a house like back home,with garage off to side. You have a nice assortment. Love the tall snowman also! Glad you put some up!!I enjoyed them!! Jan

That is so pretty, Sandy. And the shelf your SIL made is such a good idea too.

There's a neat idea in my Holiday Xmas inspiration album for just a tiny set-up. She used a tray and that kept the "snow" contained. I think its really a sweet "Village" idea.

Baileybear, I have a 'start' on a Fall-Thanksgiving Village. Just two houses and some cute accesssories so far. From the LeMaxx site I believe, got them two or three years ago so not sure now. Of course I'm always on eBay looking for stuff . I've seen some really cute Halloween Villages too. (And Easter ones tho not sure who made those. A good friend of mine, Kirk who comes here some, has found a LOT of Easter pieces at thrift shops in his area of WA.) Oh, and I'll find my "want list" and see if any Dickens pieces are on it and let you know in case you have them. Christine, if you're enjoying your Village, I say leave it out as long as you want. Personally I consider mine more of a "Winter" decor than Christmas. One year I set up first part of Nov and left it up till Feb 1st, so I could enjoy it even longer. I saw a GREAT set once, in a magazine long ago. A couple had a neat set-up in some kind of large linen type closet, with electricity for the buildings to light up. When they didn't want it seen, they just closed the doors! Love your bookcase display, arcy! How cool that you were able to personalize the houses! My snowman village is twenty years old this Christmas. It has three shops and a clock tower. They're made of white porcelain so they really glow when lighted. I have saved cotton from pill bottles and elsewhere over the years and try to make the snow look like drifts--it's a lot of work getting it to look like the real deal! The snowwoman with the broom has to sweep paths through the entire village. I hope she gets paid well!

I will be 94 this coming Wednesday and remainl a nut about Christmas decorations (have a Santa collection too). I made 30 some putz houses, churches, dog houses, etc. each displayed with a light, cords hidden under lots and lots of snow, trees everywhere, and am constantly searching for miniatures that would go with the scene. Some posters mentioned disposal of their collections, and I would definitely be interested in purchasing from those people if they are interested in selling. Sandy your home is beautiful and you sure know how to decorate for the holidays! I adore the village with the greenhouse! Never saw one of those. How cute. We have almost the same living room paint color. Might try to make my SS pic in front of LR wall.

Great idea with the tray Karen! Some large can lids might work also ... thanks for posting that from the Inspirational Album!

I love setting up nativities or Christmas villages. Haven't been able to drag out all my decorations in basement, DD's stuff is stacked in front of it, and I only got out just a few things this year. 2 tiny trees already decorated lol. my front door wreath. a few smalls, not much else. But Santa's gonna visit the GS's tomorrow night! ~tenderlee

Love your "small" village & really like your house with the conservatory. I haven't seen one like that before. It's like an old fashioned Christmas.

Hey, Karen...did you see the cops in the village?

There's a female officer to the right of the Craft Shop escorting a drunk. We call them Sheri & Uncle Ronnie. Another cop, not real clear in the picture, to the right of the antique shop door...that's Dan! LOL

I made the big snowman. I used to sell them. The women wear real mink coats made from my grandmother's old mink cape and even have jewelry!!
