What do you do with plastic seedling containers?
Comments (4)I stack the big ones up along the side of the garage, which is out of the way and doesn't mar my view of anything. The smaller ones are rinsed out and stored in a big plastic container inside the garage. I use them for various purposes - winter-sowing, spring sowing, over-wintering plants in the garage (this past winter I had approx. 40 containers of various sizes in the garage), plant swaps or giveaways, plant sales, and when I move from the current house I hope to bring LOTS of plants with me....See MoreHow & where do you store your garden stuff?
Comments (10)I have peg boards and nails in the garage walls for gardening tools and other hardware. There is also a small workshop on the back of the garage which is now garden/lawn storage. One year I went to a garage sale in the neighborhood and bought two small dressers to put in my garage for garden storage. Gloves, small tools, yarn, hose connectors, bags, etc. go in those. The tools I use every day, trowel, and hand weeder, go in the bottom of a pail by the back door. Like gmjan, I have multiples that I don't often use but might. My favorites go in the pail so I don't have to dig through the drawer. I like the idea of a place to hang them so will consider that. We used to move every 6-8 years but have been here 13 years and "stuff" has increased exponentially. Need to do a good sorting and culling....See MoreShow me how you store your plastic containers
Comments (5)Since we got rid of our wall oven in favor of a range, we gained a bank of four deep drawers in it's place. The top one, just below the microwave is a little higher than the average drawer, (39"-49") but works out well for the lightweight stuff. We used to keep all this above the old refer, but the new refer is so tall, that the cabinet above now is better for seldom used items. Comments (12)ITA with lazy_gardens. Over the past year or so I've been purging storage containers and limiting what we keep. During that time, someone in our household has been eating the same sandwich meat regularly- and it happens to come in one of those reusable containers. Now we have about 25 identical containers- probably about 2 cup size? I grab them for everything, even if it means we use 2 or 3 to put one particular type of foodstuff away. It's so convenient and the cabinet isn't a jumble anymore. We still have a few other, older containers, but as they wear out, I'm not replacing them. I bought a few larger of the inexpensive type, but in those bigger sizes we never need more than 2. We also use zipper bags more than we use to, realizing that our family tends to only have large quantities of leftovers a couple of times a year. If/when the sandwich meat containers wear out, I'll probably end up getting rid of them all and replacing them with about 10 identical, inexpensive containers....See MoreNicole
