Many companies make stainless steel that is easy to keep clean. My Fisher & Paykel fridge has something called EZKleen stainless steel, and true to its name, it doesn't show fingerprints easily and is a breeze to keep looking shiny and clean. The front of my old SS dishwasher always looked awful so I chose to panel my new dishwasher drawers.

I wanted a beachy coastal feel in my kitchen. I painted the walls sky blue and chose white cabinets and white countertops. I warmed things up by having a stained wood island and a dish hutch with a stained wood top and staining my wood floors a rich brown. My appliances are a combination of SS and black glass.

You could do your backsplash or just some accessories in beach glass colors. You could also add bamboo shades to your windows and some seagrass chairs/counter stools. You can choose lighting with a nautical style.

You can mix appliance finishes. When I read your post I was reminded of gracesantacruz's finished kitchen. She has a view of the ocean from her window and did a subtle beach theme in her kitchen - I love her JennAire floating glass front fridge. She mixed appliance finishes very successfully. And her Ceaserstone countertops look very beachy IMHO. Oh yeah, and her glass backsplash is simply gorgeous! I'm attaching a link to her finished kitchen thread. HTH. -Kim
