Does this sound strange to you?

We have some space behind the sink wall but not along the entire wall. Because we were so overwhelmed with all the details during demo, I told my husband not to worry about moving studs to make a cubby centered on the sink (that would have delayed my kitchen at least another week) and most of the drywall has already gone back up. Once we put the uppers in, I noticed the perfect spot to recess something into the wall between the existing studs. ItÂs at the far left of the sink, right next to the MW, 15" wide and maybe 22" deep.

IÂm thinking of trying to use that space as one deep drawer for my dish drainer or two shallow ones for the various small things that collect around the sink. I plan to use subway tile and could get white glossy drawer fronts to blend in.

How odd would it be to have drawers on the wall or can you come up with another idea? I have nothing worth displaying in that area and IÂd rather it served a valuable function than look pretty.
