That looks great. Though I myself like a paper towel holder that is portable (for pets' messes and the like). A gorgeous kitchen with a paper towel niche is Firsthouse_mp's, which I will link below. Allison, thanks for posting that more paper towel jars had been added. I contacted David T. Smith and spoke with Eric who was extremely helpful. According to Eric, more jars will be added each Friday at 10:00 AM Eastern time and they do accept special requests. The requests are shown to their artists who then decide if they want to take on the special request. Napagirl, Eric said the colors they use are blue, brown, green and a couple of yellows. When you have time, scroll through all their pottery pieces and see if there is a cobalt blue. I found this statement when reading about their pottery designs: Our "Redstone Pottery" has the look of salt glazed stoneware, but is actually earthenware pottery with a grey slip covering with typical cobalt blue decoration. I was told that David T. Smith has never priced a paper towel jar higher than $300. That will give us a target amount to begin saving for. Sarchlos, thank you for noting they had one with flowers. I liked the flowers but not the brown color. Hostagrams, you are right - the jar is an beautiful art piece that holds paper towels. .

yayagal, thanks for the "yes" vote! martinca, I had first thought of a more shallow box, but thought with the deeper box you would be less likely to see into the box if it was messy! :-) Also with no shelf to put it on, I would have to reach down much further to grab the basket? sameboat, that is a consideration, as I do have some back problems, but with this old house I get to do a lot of bending anyway, so what's a little more? mpmg46, that was my thought too. We will be refinishing these floors soon, and would not want to damage them after taking the time to refinish. lynn, thanks. The floors are original pine. Our house was built in 1868. So some imperfections for sure, but don't want to add any more than I can help. lascatx, hmmmm...didn't think about the cat hair and dust. Will have to give that more thought. I swear my cat should be bald with all the hair I have around the house! Maybe the covered one would be better, but it is smaller. Was thinking the one with wheels and it is bigger but not quite as tall. However I do like the look of the leather strap/latch on that one.

blue - ours is a white wire hamper from rev-a-shelf I believe. It's not installed yet, but it will be mounted on the back of the door with the door hinged at the bottom. try googling "rev-a-shelf hamper" Ours is a tilt-out, but I think the pullout kind allows for a larger hamper and would make better use of the depth of the cabinetry. Oh well, too late for me, but HTH yous find your perfect solution ;-)
