best brand of SS appliances (cleaning wise)
Comments (4)I would suggest going to several appliance show rooms and taking a look at the surface of SS appliances you are interested in. If there is going to be any noticeable difference, it's going to be where they get a lot of "hand-traffic". Take notes and see if you notice any certain brand or type of finish looking better than others. Seeing is believing. Although we've purchased a number of refrigerators over the years, our first stainless steel purchase was 8-years ago. Who knows what changes or improvements they've made since then? Although we wanted SS, we didn't purchase it with a print-resistant finish in mind (per se) - I'm good about regular cleaning and every other refrigerator we've ever owned required daily cleaning and sanitizing the handle - the features of the refrigerator and it's economy were first and foremost. Good luck on your quest, and be sure to come back and share any updates on the topic. -Grainlady...See MoreBest Appliances for Resale
Comments (15)Agree with LWO re: the $$$ - you'll not get a good return on it. You may want to get nice gear if it pleases you in the near term though. Two years often has a habit of becoming 3, then 4 then...... You may be able to distinguish your tract home from the zillion other look alikes and move it/keep it on the top of buyer's lists if it has a gleaming WOLF pro range and built in fridge. This assumes that it's close in price and condition to the other listings. That pro range and built in fridge isn't going to bump you price up by $10-15k all by itself....See MoreWill high end appliances really do much for resale?
Comments (16)We sold our house last year. It was getting about 5 people going through it a day.. a DAY.. and would not sell. There were people down the road that sold in a day and others that were not getting 5 people a month. We got the traffic due to the beautiful deck. We did not sell due to the counters not being granite. In fact.. it almost did not sell due to popcorn ceilings. The appliances looked new and were only about 4-5 years old... all matching. Rule of thumb, people are finicky. No telling what will float their boat. If you have old crappy appliances, upgrade, but upgrade to the least expensive stainless ones you can, but make sure they match. People do not want old, and they do not want to have to do it themselves. If they see shiny bling.. they will not pick on it as much.. but there WILL be people that will hit you on everything... just do not spend a lot of money on a house you plan to sell. Comments (13)1) Appliance Consistency - Do you think most buyers will have a strong opinion on 1 single brand of appliance for the entire kitchen? In most of the new homes I have seen, they have the same brand for everything (ie. hood/stovetop/dishwasher, etc). Do you think this matter? Or as long as they are the same color scheme, it should be acceptable? I sold my condo in our luxury building and none of the appliances except the cooktop and oven were the same brand. I'm talking very high 6 figure sale. They were all stainless steel and that's all that mattered. I chose the best for each appliance. 2) Appliance Brand - Both our real estate agent and builder suggested we install JennAir appliances for luxury/resale value. Ok if she thinks so. JennAir is a mid range line. My question to you is, this is your starter home, but what is the market for the townhouse you're building? I wouldn't put luxury appliances (Miele, Wolf, SubZero, Gaggenau, Thermador) in a condo that sells for under $200,000 and I wouldn't put basic appliances (Maytag, Whirlpool, Samsung) in a million dollar condo. In between are tons of brands. Check on the appliance forum....See Moreccoombs1
