What do you think?--Dishes in base cabinet or base drawers
Comments (22)dekeoboe I'm sorry, but I'm not sure where I found that particular picture any more. It was saved in my "storage" bookmarks but we decided not to use it b/c we decided to keep our dishes in upper cabs. It is possible that it was a UK only product b/c I know I found a bunch of things they have there that we don't that I am having shipped to cousins in Scotland and then sent over here. However, I did find several versions of it at US sites: Here is one: http://www.woodhollowcabinets.com/show.meta/cabinetaccessories Scroll down to "PLATE HOLDER INSERT IN ROLLOUT" I know this company is willing to sell just the insert/organizer pieces separately because I am in the process of ordering the OXO organizer from them (to get a general idea on price, the OXO thing I am getting from them is $225 inc. utensils). They also sell some pieces on eBay and have perfect feedback. You could order their version of it from them (disclaimer- I haven't actually finalized my order yet or received my item so I cannot attest to anything myself about their quality) Alternatively, a version is also available at: http://www.acornkitchens.com/Collections.aspx?name=Transitional Scroll down to " Drawer Accessories Vertical plate holder pullout" You could contact them to see if they would sell you one as well. (I know nothing about them, other than I found this on google) Hope that helps!...See More9" vs. 12" drawer base cabinet, sink base size and 4.5" space
Comments (18)Thanks for the headsup, angela12345. I measured the GD and went to HD to measure the interior dimension of a 30" sink base cabinet. My oh my, a 30" sink base is TINY! But, it will have to do for now. The 33" sink base has more space inside and I wish we could put it in our layout without my being so bothered. Sigh. Alas, I really can't stand how the spacing of the sink base is uneven in relation to the already lopsided window on the wall. It makes me feel I am living in the winchester mystery house! So far, I have ascertained that it can hold our trash, recycle bin and compost pail, with a smidge of room left for fire extinguisher. Definitely no room for insta-hot water heater and filter. So, we nix that from our wish list. I am looking for a single bowl undermount. After some online research, I found a kindred sink KCUS30A-10/10BG that I like but I don't know if it's available online or not. I wish I could use the ticor sink but the one I like needs a 33" sink base. Bummer. The kindred sink I am interested in will have interior dimension of 27"W x 16"L x 10"H. I think that will work beautifully for washing my long-handled pans. Here's the specs: http://www.kindred-sinkware.com/grfx/products/specs/KCUS30A_10-10BG.pdf. Hope Kindred is a good product....See MoreIssues w/depth of base cab vs. depth of mw drawer
Comments (9)Sorry, I didn't realize Boops2012's cabinets were inset. Yes, mine are full overlay - except the corner sink base. The corner sink is partial overlay so filler isn't needed on the right next to the drawer base cabinet, but there is 1" of filler on the left (cab door hinge side) on the MW drawer run to allow the sink door to open fully b/c the MW drawer sticks out so far. Also, yes, my MW drawer is a 30" and yes, it's the same size on the inside as a 24". The 30" just has more trim. And finally, no modifications were needed to install the cabinet. So it's: * On the MW side: 31" cabinet w/MW drawer + 1" filler (full overlay) * Corner: 36" sink base (partial overlay) * Peninsula: 24" drawer base (full overlay) Unfortunately, with inset cabinets you lose cabinet depth - so it appears you may have to modify the cabinet as Jakuvall has suggested. Talk to your KD and contractor about this....See MoreCan I hack a trash pull-out from an Ikea 15 inch depth cabinet base
Comments (19)The left is mounted on the side panel and the right is mounted on a special piece that IKEA sold for this application. Don't know if they still sell it, but I'm sure it could be reproduced. The center piece is basically a 1 1/2" piece of MDF that extends the depth of the cab and is secured at the back and front to the bottom of the cab. It functions as a short cab wall and I have a drawer rail mounted on both sides. In your case you could position in where you need to achieve your right wall. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough, but hope this pic helps. I can take more pix tomorrow if that will help you. IKEA under sink pullouts...See Morenatal
