Splashing Issue with Farm/Apron Sinks??
Comments (3)I don't have any more issues with splashing in my single bowl farmhouse sink than I did with my divided drop in sink. Probably less splashing, if anything, since I can actually fit pots and pans flat in the bottom of the sink to wash them!...See Moremetal countertop with farm/apron sink? pics?
Comments (13)Claybabe, You are a goddess! Forgive the delay in response, I just caught up with mail and had missed this post on the forum. YES, those are exactly perfect and VERY VERY helpful! I can't thank you enough! These, along with the thread in the metalworking forum, should give us ample inspiration to go on. Was there a reason you decided to notch out the counter where it hit the sink, rather than leave it full thickness? Aesthetics or other? It looks fantastic, I must say. Do you know what substrate was used? We templated our mdf/plywood substrate this week, copper sheet purchase is next week. Starting to get excited! PS: Here's the stainless counter from the sink gallery:...See MoreFarm House Stainless Steel Sink
Comments (20)Here's a link with threads discussing different reveals: GW search Just by reading this forum for a few years, it seems to me that that negative reveals are more popular--a negative reveal covers the caulk, and you don't see any grunge that collects there. Negative and flush reveals have a cleaner, sleeker look, IMO, but have a higher incidence of chipping, especially if the counter material is prone to chipping, such as some soapstone and marble varieties. I've read that negative reveals are easier to install because the edge of the sink is masked--it's easier to see slight variations in a positive or flush reveal. The argument for a positive reveal (other than the option for an integrated cutting board), is that one can see the grunge and clean it more easily, and deteriorating caulk can be discovered and redone sooner rather than later. The caulk line is also visible in a flush reveal. The left and right sides of my counter are m/l flush with the sink edge--DIY amateur, so there is a slight offset, but not enough to redo it....See MoreTop mount, short apron farm sink with 60/40 double bowl
Comments (8)Yes. I had a 50/50 before and have had to adjust:) The divided Whitehaven (70/30) had the smaller part on the wrong side for my set up. My old 50/50 cast iron sink, even though it was for a 36" cabinet, had much smaller bowls, so you might want to see that 50/50 in person - it might be big enough. I have worked it out by using a dish rack with sides which I keep in the left inside of my sink. I also have a little pretty wood rack for some depression glass and other hand washables. My drain is way to the right, but the Vault drain is in the middle - that might make a difference for making something like this work. : That one is by Simplehuman, but there are others. Here is a similar gray one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07539JCNB/ref=asc_df_B07539JCNB5298712/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B07539JCNB&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216558267793&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2460828519382747571&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018505&hvtargid=pla-361925929854 Different company - I don't have any experience with this one: http://www.qvc.com/Squish-Dish-Rack.product.K305653.html?colorId=000&sizeId=000&ref=GAS&cm_mmc=GOOGLESHOPPINGFEED--GShopping|L|BrandProduct|cooking+dining--pla--sCaLVwTno|dc_400057871687__K305653-000-000&mkwid=sCaLVwTno|dc_pcrid_400057871687_pkw__pmt__productid_K305653-000-000&TZ=EST I recently got the sink grids for my sink because I did not want to ding the cast iron and now the in-sink dish rack won't sit flat - so I am keeping my eyes out for another. Many here on this forum do not use dish racks. I have rinsed recyclables and non-dishwasher pot and pans so understand the desire for a dish rack - but be prepared for some to tell you to live without one:) I hope Joe chimes in - he knows every sink out there....See Morermkitchen
