Any color other than yellow/warm neutrals?

Dilemma: Small SE facing LR with a fun red couch.

I've been thinking a golden/warm neutral is the only option for this space because it's relatively small and dark, but I just find the idea of yellowish walls kind of boring. We really like green (DR is BM Louisburg Green) and hubby wants our den to be like a Tate Olive green.

Is there such a thing as too much green? Would it be too much for the entire first floor (varying shades). Is green too cool for a low-light room? I guess Saybrook Sage would be the first choice because of the Louisburg and Tate Olive rooms.

Or should I keep trying to find a golden color that thrills me?

I just used BM Grant Beige and in my house it reads beigy/gray/green. It looks great with red. Not sure how it would look with Saybrook Sage.

We have Sherwin Williams Relaxed Khaki. It is a beige with no yellow that has a gray/green in it (neutral). It also looks great with red. If you have more of a neutral on the wall I think your couch would be the focal point and you could do some colorful pillows. Here you can see our color with the red from the mudd room:

RL Deep Cream is very pretty, although very changeable, so you'd need to sample it in your house and room before deciding (well, you'd do that anyway!). Other posters here have called it "grey" or "lemon" -- in my somewhat dim MBR, it's a very warm off-white, right on the cusp of light beige and ivory. I don't see either grey or lemon in it at all. Too light for my purposes, but lovely. Maybe right for yours? There's another thread going about neutral paint colors -- perhaps there'd be some good suggestions there? Many people seem to like BM Ivory Tusk. Good luck!

Hi, I have painted by house with several BM colors. I actually have Monroe Bisque, Standish White, Pittsfield Buff, and Shelburne Buff. I have low ceilings, natural oak floors, with white trim. I have furniture of all colors. Of all the colors I used Shelburne buff seems to have the least amount of green. I personally think Pittsfield Buff has a lot of gold. The color that everyone loves believe or not is Monroe Bisque. I was not sold with any of these colors until I put them up as samples. One of the reason that these colors have some green is it tends to give these colors more versatility. For me I didnt want a creamy yellow, because I didnt want my rust colored furniture to look too red.

Thank you for all the assistance. I was leaning towards muslin (as it looks like linen) Since the FR and kitchen are now opened up to each other - I think one color would be best. The only concern is that the kitchen receives much more light than the back hallway and the family room. I'm wondering if the muslin will cast shadows in the late afternoon hours in the FR.

It all depends on what you mean by a "warm neutral" and just how much color you want. In my several homes over the decades, I have enjoyed Navajo White from various brands. Each brand has its own version, each varies in depth of color, and base tone (one will be a bit tan, one a bit yellow, one a bit green... usually a complex shade, not a pure color, that acts as a neutral behind other decor items/colors).

I'd received a recommendation for a room here to be done with Ellen Kennon's Sage, technically a green, but one that can read as sort of brown. A very interesting color and one that I -- someone who dislikes green on walls -- really like. I'm not sure it will work in my own room else I probably would include it on my short list of possible colors. It seems like a warm color to me. Sometimes I have trouble figuring out whether a color is warm or cool, so I might be wrong about that.

My dining room is Benjamin Moore York Harbor Yellow. It's a mustardy warm yellow. I am not a yellow fan, but I do like this color. It doesn't photograph well, so hard to show a picture of it. My dining room is also a little dark and the color works well there. My kitchen next to it is BM Baby Turtle, and they look good together.

We have Saybrook Sage in our kitchen/family room with a purple-ish couch and it works, but with the red, I would certainly get a throw with both colors in it to tie the colors together. PB and RH used have some wonderful chenille ones with several colors, but RH has now gone monochromatic with their throws as has PB.

I just got back from the BM store- I like the chip of Fernwood Green. I don't know how it would actually look, but that shade of green is pretty friendly to me, more so than Saybrook Sage, which just seems so "overcast" to me. Going to google some pics now.

Hello,

We have red accents in our family room along with brown/ neutral funiture. My walls are SW White Raisin, and I love this color in any kind of light. It is far from a boring yellow. I have it mixed with SW Bamboo Shoot. Pics below of my adjoining rooms.
