Uh oh, you're starting to sound like me and that's a bad sign. (I freaked out about my granite, now my pendant lights). Breathe, Mrsandrews.

First things first. It's in, and granite does not come out easily. Accept it for now, and like Rmkitchen told me in a separate post, live with it for a week.

Don't obsess over it. Look at it in the grand scheme of your kitchen. How big is the bar sink? Where is it in relation to the main "focal point" areas of your kitchen? One thing is for sure, since it's undermounted then it won't be too noticeable. If it were a farmhouse sink it would be another story...

How is the sink mounted? Is there another sink that you would find better that fits the same granite cut out?

Depending on how the sink is mounted, it might be possible to change it out from below without disturbing the granite, but that would require that the replacement sink fits the same granite cutout.

Our bathroom sinks were mounted using sink clips. Since our house is 35 years old, they had gotten scratched over time and were really difficult to maintain. I considered resurfacing but its so expensive and we weren't sure how long it would hold up. The hardest part was finding a current version of the sink model because they were not a common size (if there is such a thing). My DH loosened the sink clips and then worked the caulking loose until the sink separated from the counter top - the loosened sink clips were still there so it only dropped a tiny fraction of an inch. Then he finished removing the sink clips and took the sink out. He did that for four sinks with no damage to the counters.

Our new kitchen sinks are sandwiched between the granite and the plywood underlayment for the granite - sinks mounted that way would be much more difficult to remove from the bottom.

Maybe try to live with it for a bit and see if you still notice it.

Honestly, I'd have it reglazed a nice white...easy fix really in consideration with the other options :) Don't live with it...you know don't you? Just cuz you accept it being wrong, does not mean it's not wrong later on...get rid of the wart now before they start calling your kitchen a witch :oP

Reglaze. It's so simple and it lasts and lasts and lasts and you will forget that it was ever pink after you have lived with it reglazed for 20 years and what is $300 when you are doing a kitchen of your dreams.

My vote is for the reglazing.

But how well does reglazing work? Whenever I have looked into it (for vintage sinks and tubs--not ceramic), the "old house" type folks I have talked to all say that it is a very temporary fix and looks terrible quickly in a high use area. But maybe reglazing cast iron fixtures is different from ceramic fixtures? It might be good to call Rohl and ask. (And what a bummer that their 2 biscuits are different. And a big phooey on those granite guys for pressuring you! They could have rescheduled!)

Wow, thank you all so much for the wonderful replies. It sure helps to have some moral support. I need to do a bit more research on the glazing. I'm sure that's the way I'll go, it's just a matter of when, probably soon!

cloudswift- thanks so much for the details on the install. Unfortunately, I think ours are sandwiched in between the plywood and the granite, but I remember them using undermount kits with clips, so maybe it would be easy to replace it from underneath> That's a great idea. I'm definitely going to look into it. Im not sure if I can find a sink the same size in the right color, but it's worth a shot!

igloochick, love your name, and your post made me laugh so hard...true. every time i look at it it makes me sick, and a few hundred bucks is nothing in the scheme of this remodel

I would do as redroze said. Don't jump the gun and do anything you'll regret later. Live with it for just one week, by then you will not walk into the room and look for it right away. If you still hate it then you can reglaze it and I think what they do today is superior to how they did it years ago. I know what you are going through, you research and then research more, make your decision and when installed is not right. I have a bosch stainless dishwasher installed a few days ago that I freaked over as it just sticks out like a sore thumb, can't stand to look at it, then my granite was installed and it was so much lighter at the yard in the sun. Installed it is much darker. What a bummer after driving as far as 3 hours away to granite yards, 7 of them total. But after only two days I am liking it more, at first you walk in the door and look for it now it just blends with the rest of the kitchen. Good Luck!!
