Cool Drawer is a an albatross. On paper all the flexibility looks great, but how often are you going to empty everything to change from cheese, butter and lettuce storage to ice cream and frozen pizzas ??? It doesn't have an ice maker if you choose to use it as a freezer. The biggest drawback is it's width. At 33 11/16 " or 855 mm wide it is too wide to make for efficient access and that is also a non standard cabinet width. Makes planning difficult too. So, you are looking at a MANDATORY custom built cabinet and more $$$. Some factory brands simply won't produce a panel that wide for an integrated look. At approx $2500 ea. It's not cheap either.

"I can't imagine that is the problem considering the flakes/dirt are on the outside " why not? if the particulate can float it would rise to the top of the cube mold before it froze. Have you pulled the drawer & ice bin to inspect the maker itself for foreign matter? I'd probably disconnect the water line and flush it well. Keep some of the water to see what's in it, if anything?.

Hi L G, We ended up with all True for the bar appliances. In the living room bar, we ended up doing the True ice Maker and a True beverage center. We opted to put the ice maker here, as opposed to basement bar, since we figured we would use it much more often in the main living area as opposed to basement which is more used for movie watching and parties. So far that has turned out to be a good choice, since with two small children, we aren't hosting as many parties (yet). For the basement bar, we went with a True refrigerator, a True dual zone wine refrigerator, a True freezer, and a Miele dishwasher (Lumen, I think - I can get the exact model if you want). To be honest, so far this bar hasn't gotten a lot of use but we are still settling into the house, and I think it will be great once we are a little bit more up and running. It's been nice having the extra fridges for the beverage and wine storage. Overall we are happy with the selections. The quality and aesthetics are great. As someone recently posted on one of the threads, the True ice maker isn't "whisper quiet". You can hear it filling up water, clearing out drain, and dumping ice into the chamber periodically throughout the day. I honestly don't really notice it, and without basis of comparison, I imagine it's similar if not better than other ice makers due to the nature of the operation, but if appliance noise is a concern, I would definitely try to check out one and see if you are comfortable with the noise level before committing to one. But we've been very happy having it, and having it near the living space means it gets used a lot, and it's super nice making a cocktail and having a fresh supply of clear ice right by everything. I have the Scotsman nugget machine and it is great. It has a gravity drain so it makes almost no noise at all, the only thing I hear is the little nuggets falling into the bin and you have to listen real hard to hear that. If you need the pump to get the water out that will make some noise. The nugget machines are not as bad as the regular machines for water use. They use 100% of the water that comes in for ice production, the only water that goes down the drain is from the ice that melts inside the storage bin. The ice quality will only be as good as the water coming in so you do want to have the water on a filter or RO system to remove as much of the junk in your water. If you do chew your ice or need it for ice pack on your aches and pains there is nothing better.
